The winning party of the state chooses the electors. They're typically extremely loyal/connected party members. Virtually no chance any of them "flip" and certainly not in the numbers needed for Trump to win.

This plan is not gonna work but it’s clear to me that democracy will reach a fail point at some point in our lifetime. On a bigger scale than Florida 2000. As with many aspects of the Trump years, this moment truly feels like a trial run for authoritarian takeover. Imagine a quasi socialist democrat barely winning an election in the future. Does a future Republican Party, that is likely even more extreme than it is now, sit back and accept defeat - and allow the election to be certified? It doesn’t seem ludicrous to imagine one or two states refusing to certify results in this scenario, based on what we have seen this month.

America's institutions are not as strong as we have been brought up to believe. People talk about who "great" the founding fathers were but they created a system was build for the 19th century not 21st century America. And they didn't foresee that about 35-40% of the country would be radicalized by to the point where insurrectionist talk is common place now. Or a political party would use these vehicles to maintain minority rule over the majority at the state and federal level. The right seeing what happened in 2020 is going to double down on voter suppression and gerrymandering. And this is only going to make political polarization worse on both sides.
