Welcome to politics. Where your side might be able to do A but not B. Many on here jump on Democrats for every little thing. Fact is they're fighting hard with what they have. Don't like what just happened? Quit doing your own bit of crying and start doing some online campaigning to get more Democrats in the Senate.

You don’t know how politics work, but instead want to excuse Dems for being slow footed.

If the Dems get the house, senate and presidency, watch how much the GOP muck up the process and invalidate everything you wrote. You will then move from “the Dems had no majority” to “the Republicans are messing up everything!”
