I wonder why Jessie endorsement came so far out in the campaign
Knowing Sanders - he probably didn’t ask. He’s always wanted politics to be a dispassionate sport of rational decisions. Ultimately, I don’t think a loner can become president. It’s straight up his personality. Bernie Sanders is like if you put someone like me who hates networking and ass kissing in politics. He got as far as you can get be guided by nothing but message and character.

They forget that black people have always wanted to be independent and have our own. We are not White people that see how capitalism has failed them in a nation where they feel entitled. We grow up expecting nothing and having to fight for everything. The left doesn’t have really have any people who are among “the folks.” There’s no one that most young black people really want to be like leading their movement. They lack Obama’s “cool” factor as corny as it seems.
Definitely. I agree 100 percent. What do you think we can do to solve this problem? I’m thinking about going to a fe DSA meetings in my area to see if they are open to some of these discussions.

I don’t even know. This whole primary has taken years off my life. The worst is watching black influencers on social media be super woke and then turn around and vote like they’re voting for their favorite sports team. I don’t think you can make any inroads with black folks over 65. But people 45 and under should be fertile ground. I do think New Deal Democrat goes far. I think the message is saying that you believe in American values like XYZ but then y’all about how far away it is for so many and for black people in particular. And then list all these programs as a means of finally incorporating black people into the American dream. You don’t have to even necessarily name an enemy. You don’t get to that until we explain how to pay for things. If I was a speechwriter I would say something about finally realizing the dream deferred. And that you shouldn’t have to be a LeBron or Jay Z to get there and that is what these conditions have produced for so many young black people. Let us create a world where
Black children can dream the same way white children get to. It’s a less aggressive way of talking about White privilege.

Speaks volumes about his detractors. They'll shyt on a principled man who sincerely advocates for the equality and dignity of all above empty rhetoric and deception.

And to your larger points, I don't even know how much of that approach of what most of you are considering outreach to the black community would be effective. I just know that as a black man who doesn't give two fukks about "the black church" and it's culture, never has, and sees the ridiculousness of valuing individual achievements over societal gains and improvements, this is definitely not a road I ever see myself embarking on.

I hope like hell your assessment isn't accurate, because that would make Black America and leftist politics fundamentally incompatible.

This. But it’s crazy how the older black folk have sold out the younger generations possible last chance at something more, you look at most studies and it shows how the black household is making less money and nothing’s gonna change with Biden and the dems. We need progressive policies and we need them fast, this ain’t to to say that the progressive class warfare is the answer to all but it’s definitely the beginning.

People say appeal to business but how is that left? If you just want to be a black capitalist then maybe the democrats are for you. So if someone like Fred Hampton or mlk jr ran that doesn’t appeal to black people cause they want to be jayz or lebron ? Falling for the same capitalist bullshyt they sell to the poor white man

I think it’s a realization that we are decades away from blatant class warfare messaging winning by itself.

I don’t disagree. But I’m not sure how we can start a new party without handing every election to the republicans, or just being a afterthought like the Green Party. How do we start a new party that can actually win?

Honestly, it would have to take a Bernie defeat and another Trump presidency with all the fixings for it to be possible but it would have to be a movement that’s both grassroots and highly mobile through digital media. One difficult thing would be that a progressive party would in theory not take in certain special interest dollars so can’t generate the same funds however I don’t see anything wrong with wealthy donors giving money because of the cause. But that’s up for debate.

Of course, the establishment does make things difficult but in a world this interconnected I wouldn’t say it’s impossible. If anything, it might be more possible now than it has been for many years. Everything has shifted so far right, Dems included, that perhaps a party that’s firmly to the far left can actually be viable. To me, it seems like a sensible evolution for contemporary American politics. Rethugs to the right, Dems in the middle, Progressives on the left.

Therein lies the paradox. The people that would most need progressive policies has too much of a conservative streak to vote for it. There are a lot of layers to voting in Black America, some which have been ignored until now.

Even though it Looks like Biden has this wrapped up I want the voting to continue because that’s the only way the news stations will stop talking about trump.

The longer Biden is being talked about on the news and the stories of him rising from the dead gets circulated, the better.
