@King Kreole what percentage of the population does she represent? And why is helping undocumented immigrants specifically a winning strategy for Bernie and helping blacks specifically not?
:francis:
... and why should blacks get behind him when other democratic candidates are willing to address black issues in a more direct way?

I don't think that fighting to create a long-term solution to the untenable undocumented situation is intrinsically at odds with fighting for the rights of black people, but I do agree that Bernie looked kinda funny in the light in that tweet you previously posted. I've said before, Bernie trying to think or speak intersectionally is like watching a dog ride a unicycle. The progressive agenda does help black people more, but it's by incidence, and I believe you can't be afraid to speak to the unique injustices faced by black people. That's what a lot of these class-first leftists continually fail to do. :francis:

@King Kreole in this video Warren says she's gonna do what Bernie has been saying all along for getting health care passed -- 50 senators + VP

It's hilarious that some Warren technocrats went full send on Bernie for reconciliation... saying how it was unworkable and that Liz is the serious wonk. Now two days before 2020 Liz is telling you she's doing the Bernie strategy now:mjgrin:

Bernie's full M4a bill contains provisions, namely banning private insurance, that violate the Byrd rule, so it cannot be passed through reconciliation. Bernie knows this but is apparently now pretending he doesn't. He's floated the idea of telling his VP to overrule the parliamentarian, which is a nuclear option that is even more volatile than abolishing the filibuster, which he is still not in favor of for some reason. Going this route would most likely lead to Dems who may even be in favor of M4A to switch their votes out of parliamentary principle. It's an incoherent strategy. Hence, this tweet:

I agree with this

Warren, on the other hand, has designed her transition plan to account for these parliamentary constraints and made it passable through reconciliation. Two bites of the hamburger. We see the value of being a serious wonk when trying to design a plan to get the largest governmental and social change in generations enacted. Plus, she's actually in favor of getting rid of the filibuster, which would mean she would be able to get other progressive policies passed with a simple majority.

Wait, hold up.

How do you already know it won't pass? And why didn't you tell the rest of us you already knew it wasn't gonna pass before we started wasting our time fighting and advocating for it? :why:

I wish you would have told me that before I put that M4A bumper sticker on my car.

Now I look like an idiot. :snoop:
:laff: this is actually a great response

yeah it's funny and true because the only reason to fight and advocate for something is if it will be passed immediately! Also, I believe that if Bernie wins, not only will Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema vote for M4A in 2021, but also Mitch McConnell and other Republicans will vote for M4A as well because they will be so overwhelmed by the strength of the movement and revolution

Get your pie in the sky nonsense out of here!!! We're gonna repeal the filibuster....pass a public option...everyone will support it no problem, even Hickenlooper and Manchin....that's the pragmatic approach. :snoop:

I know right? :hhh:

I can't stand these idiots saying 50 votes is an easier path for controversial legislation than 60 votes requiring Republican support, and that it will be easier to get Senators to support legislation they've already publicly stated they're willing to support :rudy:

These dudes don't understand that once Bernie wins things will...change...so it's like dumb to try and plan ahead based on reality...because Bernie's revolution will change reality :smugbiden:

Read the tweet you posted again it’s a scenario in which the Dems can’t repeal the filibuster.

and again, Bernie's M4A bill is not eligible to be passed through reconciliation, so if Dems cannot repeal the filibuster, he has to go the 60 votes route.
