its also like when the EMTs would be like, why should fast food get paid more than emts, not realizing, if the minimum wage goes up, you both now get 15 instead of emts getting 10/hr and fast food workers getting 7.50/hr, theyd rather not take the increased wages because it would mean they now make the same as a fast food worker and they wouldnt be able to look down on them anymore. not to even mention they could now negotiate for even more of a wage increase from a higher floor. of 15/hr, just such selfishness and ignorance of people

You hit it right on the head. I think the decrease in relative status guides this line of thinking. Since graduating from grad school I've had people in my circle randomly ask me about my student loans, every time it happens I still get the face. Because the question is never etched in empathy or sincere curiosity, but etched in insecurity and wanting to know where they stand in the social hierarchy. This is prevalent in places like NYC where there is a large Blue collar middle class that share spaces/communites with white collar middle class people. Not having student debt has become a source of pride for some to offset insecurities regarding disparities in income, status, mobility, and opportunity.

He's the third most popular democrat alive but they definitely can cook some stuff up on him. It won't matter if it's true. We all know the propaganda machine worked on Corbyn and that it's a preview of what will happen to Bernie. It may be harder to stick the label on him but it will somewhat work.

The billionaire class is not gonna let us elect the instruments of their demise. I'm almost done with the idea that any oppressive system can be changed by electoral politics.

I've never read Lenin. I don't know where I fall on the political scale but probably near 1980's Bernie when he was more openly socialist. It's funny as hell cause like 4 years ago I was reading Dr Claud Anderson about building black capitalism lmao.

They've been smearing Corbyn for years. There's been build up. There isn't a full fledged smear campaign for Bernie going on so they don't have momentum but I'm not gonna underestimate the billionaire owned media.

Yeah, it's gonna be interesting once the primaries start because they're still treating him like a second tier candidate.

My prediction is that Bernie's going to have the most delegates after the first three states then go on to lose the south and the discourse from professional class liberals will be Bernie didn’t do enough "woke" stuff to win over black voters... even though the person that beat him is crime bill Joe Biden.

I don’t think these people on Twitter have any conception of the institutions and networks that drives voting across demographics. An endorsement from James Clyburn or Keisha Bottoms is massive. The black vote in the south is one of the last institutions that the Democratic party has that survived from previous generations. A good share of the black electorate likes public safety which is why they don't have issues with Biden.

By the way in November's South Carolina poll Bernie had a 72% favorability with black voters in SC.. he's second behind Biden who's at 78%....
