If he does another movie that under performs he will have no choice but to go back to something people are familiar with from him. It's too bad that waited to long, the Bad Boy 3 should of came out 3-4 years after Bad Boy 2.
Even if his next movie fails, he don't need BB3 and Martin. He can make those action movies himself. He gets most of the credit for Suicide Squad making as much money as it did. Even with the bad reviews, most thought that Will was great in SS. I'm sure there are better roles he's turning down because he's still headlining major Oscar type movies. Just look at the new movie he has coming with Oscar winners/nominees as supporting characters to his main character. He don't need Martin Lawrence whose Hollywood career is pretty much dead...

Will Smith DOES want to do BB3 or he'd have killed the idea straight up like he did with the ID4 sequel.
The man is one of the busiest actors on the planet. It'll get made trust me. The studio REALLY wants to do it, Will wants it, and Martin wants it. It'll more than likely be his next movie after he shots Bright unless WB decides to fast track SS2 ( doubtful)

So they've slated a movie for a little under 13 months from now, but they still haven't even began pre-production? Why is Will still going on about this? Script still hasn't been approved, no dates locked in for principal photography. Would have to rush the entire thing now.
For example Baywatch shot in Florida, as soon as The Rock wrapped Ballers in late March. It wrapped in mid-May. Then Seth Gordon was in post till almost October (he had knee surgery which delayed it). Movie is coming out next May (have no expectations for this BTW - feeling a flop).
