I had a feeling this show would fall off.

Maybe they should have just ended it.

It really doesn't feel the same.

It's like they really didn't want to keep it going but the demand was high so they caved. And rushed it.

:ld:its not awful but yea it's been a dropoff. Hope it picks up

It wasn’t supposed to be more than 2 seasons originally. Yet here we ate.

I miss the randomness of the earlier seasons. This season feels a bit, "forced".

Y’all call Every episode a filler Episode. :heh:

2.5 seasons in and brehs is still expecting this to be some Black Entourage shyt. :mjlol:

The plot of their rise is more of a backdrop to the different social commentaries they’re making, so episodes that don’t go a long way towards advancing that storyline are not necessarily filler.

With this episode, I did like how they did the race swap aspect with respect to accusations and presumptions of guilt. You have Paper Boi and crew as the privileged rich Black people going around accusing random CaCs of theft with little to no justification. The cancer kid literally did nothing wrong, he idolized Paper Boi to the end. Yet rather than being concerned about his well being, Earn is searching him on a stretcher. All because of happenstance and the wording some random intermediary used (the suspiciously sounding “cancer attack”). And when you think about it, that was a ridiculously far fetched notion to begin with. No need to fake a medical emergency, they could’ve just left like the rest of the audience if he stole the phone.

Then you have Wiley. He certainly fit the description. :mjpls:
Troubled youth, previously locked up for minor shyt as a youth. Overall weird dude with questionable references (a non-blood uncle that hadn’t seen him in years and didn’t even know his age). But although he did make a good suspect, the fact remained that they had no proof and it was just as likely that his “cover story” as a basement dwelling weirdo super fan was just as likely to be true. Instead of considering that, they treated him and his uncle like criminals in cahoots from the jump.

Then in the end, it’s the CaC that presented himself as the biggest ally that actually did the deed. He was overly supportive and od’d on trying to fit in emulating the persona all the while scheming. I saw the tweet theorizing that he was in cahoots with Wiley but I don’t buy that. I see no reason to believe that Socks knew some random CaC in Budapest who happened to be nephew of the manager (or whatever he was) of the venue Paper Boi was already slated to perform at before they met Socks.

After rewatching seasons 1 and 2, this shyt is all connected. :banderas:

-All 3 seasons we first see Earn waking up.

-Pilot starts with Earn waking up and telling Van he had a dream he was on a boat on a lake and hands were trying to pull him under the water. Season 3 begins with the same story.

-Earn and Al are arrested in the Pilot and episode 2 shows how much they hate Jail with Al repeatedly saying "I hate this place". Season 3 starts with Al in Euro jail and not wanting to leave until he has lunch and nap. The opposite of US jail.

-Season 1 starts with Earn's parents not letting him back into the house to teach him a lesson to grow up. Season 3 tells the story of the young boy who's mom does the same thing to teach him a lesson of growing up. Tough parenting by black parents is very established here.

-Season 1 Van has a dinner with her friend who brags about her trip to Europe and how Van should visit. Van also confronts her German side in Helen episode where she argues with her sister on going "Black" and not white like her sister. Season 3, Van comes to Europe to see what she has been missing and find herself.

-From Champagne Papi episode we see Van low key keeping tabs on Earn while he's living it up. Season 3 we see Earn low key keeping tabs on Van while she's living it up.

-Season 1 Earn's friend Dave uses the N word around him, but won't around more tough Black people. In Juneteenth, Earn and Van go to visit Aunt Viv from Bel-Air and her white Husband and are confronted with racism on a day for Black history. Season 3 Socks attempts to use the N word around Earn, Al and Darisus and quickly stops himself. Season 3 episode 2 delves into the history of racism and how it is still prevalent in Euro society and traditions as shown in Season 1 Juneteenth episode.

-Season 1 pilot Earn with no experience wants to become Al's manager to get money off his rising fame. Season 3, Earn helps an Artist with no talent get money off someone with money and fame.

-First time we see Darius in season 1 and 3, he talks about his balls being smashed in Nigeria and him not being able to have kids. We know Atlanta is foreign to him. Season 3 he seems more at home because he is used to that culture of being around Europeans. This explains his patience and tolerance with everyone, since he has obviously seen and been through worse situations in his past. Even in Teddy Perkins when confronted with death he is patient, tolerate and caring for the man attempting to kill him.

-Season 2 they "kill Michael Jackson". Season 3 they "kill Tupac".

-Season 2 Al questions Earn as his manager. Season 3 Earn is 100% doing a manger role and earning his pay to avoid another Pajama party situation.

-Season 2 Earn and Van end up going to a strip club after realizing that is the most welcoming place for black folks with money. Season 3 Al refuses to go to a Euro strip club because they overcharge and don't show titties to black men with money.

-Season 1 Al becomes a star in the hood. Season 2 he gets robbed in the hood, arrested for dumb shyt and realizes he can't be living there anymore with his rising fame. Season 3 he is enjoying life outside the hood getting the star treatment he didn't have in Season 1. People in the hood were dissing him throughout both seasons for being a broke rapper. Now he's throwing money at the fans in season 3.

-Season 1 Darius wants to measure Earn's dad's tree. Darius and Al also witness a black man that could easily be one of them get killed in the woods by their plug. Season 2 Al gets lost in the woods and confronted with death if he doesn't make it out the woods (metaphor for the hood). Season 3 Al tries to cut down the old man's tree because white man see's Al as still being a hood rapper he can rob like the people that robbed Al in the hood in Season 2.

-Season 1 we see Earn struggling as a single father with a daughter, trying to do right and take care of her. Season 3 we see the episode of a white single father (White Earn) trying to do the same thing for his daughter.

-Season 1 Darius gives Earn a phone after Earn sold his phone for a Sword to get more money. Al also confronts an internet troll that has been questioning his realness and rap identity. Season 2 Al tosses his phone because everyone has his number now and it is useless and disposable. Season 3 Al and Earn confront a troll for stealing Al's phone and Al discusses needing the phone because it has personal value (reclaiming his rap identity). The phone was never the issue as seen in season 1-2. Phones are disposable. But now it holds meaning when it has something of personal value. Just like the Jacket Earn lost at the end of season 1 that was disposable. But his key was in the pocket that were of more personal value to him.

-Season 2 Tracy is low key the snake in the group using Al. Al realizes by end of season and cuts Tracey out. Season 3 we find out Socks is the snake in the group and Al may come to realizes the same by season end.

Anyone saying these episodes aren't moving the story or connected in some way need to go back and watch from the beginning. :ahh:

Didn't hate it, didn't really like it neither. It was cool.

Definitely agree with the theme of this season being about white allies. And something on ghosts but I'm not too sure yet :jbhmm:

i found the stuff with the weirdo fan boring which was like half the episode

first 5-10 mins were hilarious though. kid having a cancer attack :mjlol:

darius' dancing :russ:

swerve at the end was interesting because i really just assumed it was the creepy fan. :ehh:

glad earn finally on his fukk van shyt

i wouldn't say it's filler but easily the worst episode of the season for all yall that been complaining about the last episode and the first one... idk what to tell you but the first 4 episodes including those were all much better than this one.

this right up there for my least favorite episode of all time along with Woods. any episode where paper boi down bad like this is with no redemption is just not good in my opinion.

just saying :unimpressed:

in my completely unbiased opinion

But who even gives a shyt about socks? We didn’t even know he was sitll gonna be in the show until this ep and why?
Exactly and it would be one thing if he was a interesting character, but he isn’t in the least bit. It sucks they had amazing side characters like Tracey and replaced him with trash like this.
