It's not even about that. Apple needs to show me what this phone can functionally do that my iPhone 7 and Galaxy S8 and soon to be Note8 can't do.

I'm not gonna pay $1000+ just because they have a OLED screen with small bezels on a phone that pretty much does what all my devices now can do.

If this phone is basically a repackaged version of what I already have I see no reason to give them the $1000+ for it. Honestly I'm only getting a Note8 because I can trade in an old phone I didn't even really want and get it for about half off.
T mobile has a buy one get one free deal with the Note 8. fukk this silly ass phone.

I never understood that. They are buying the same phone they already have with probably some basic software update.

Me: "So what is new about the Iphone 8/9/10?" :jbhmm:

Response: "It's about 2μm thinner" :jawalrus:

Me: "A g for 2μm???"

Response: "Yeah"

:what:

Falling for basic marketing ploys like sheep.:francis:

I could utilize 1g to buy some stocks with a company (<$10 listed price) that has good fundamentals (and is centered on future growth) and watch my money grow. Sheep stay losing. :wow:

I've already got my investments set up breh. And I'm debt free, even my house is paid off. I make pretty decent money (100k+), got a 9-10 month emergency fund, max my 401k/roth IRAs, and have a few capital investment accounts in no load mutual funds. I own my cars as well (4 at the moment).

I understand phones are relatively overpriced. But while a lot of people can't truly afford these phones, I feel like I can. And I buy my phones outright full price, because my cell phone bill is only 20 dollars a month for unlimited everything.

I would think spending large amounts of money on Android phones would be even worse. There are tons of Android phones, all running the same software. Hence why they all drop in value almost immediately. While Apple is/can be overpriced, they're unique in that they control IOS. And I have Mac computers/laptops too, so it fits seamlessly.

change the game with the damn cutout. :mjlol:

my friend who is all apple products was making fun of the essential phone cause of the camera in the front...i told him about the new iphone and he went quite as a mouse :mjlol:

The Essential phone is a nice start overall, especially if you want pure Android.

No they're changing the game with the no home button/gesture based for everything software, which is a variation of the Palm Pre OS. And the true 3d facial recognition features.

You're right though it's not really changing the game, when they've been on top already for years. But it's all rumors at this point. Well see.

$1000 is a really tough pill to swallow for a the lowest iphone 8. it's approaching low end macbook prices.

It is a lot for a phone. Up to you to decide if it''s worth it to you. And really it'll be around 1100-1300 prolly after it's said and done.

:yeshrug: Never really got the argument of "why people spend so much on a phone"

People spend money all the time on bullshyt, so paying $1000 for something you use pretty much everyday doesn't sound bad to me.

Plus most of the flagship smartphones aren't that far off from being $1000 themselves.

Alos don't get the argument of "they hardly change anything every year".

I guess we'll see how advanced the facial recognition thing is because supposedly it's two years ahead of the competition, but at the end of the day there is only so much you can do with a rectangular piece of glass.

Outside of battery and camera improvements, who knows when the next big cell phone update will happen.

Battery tech definitely needs to catch up. But the rumor of having basically the size of the iphone plus battery in the normal size iphone 8 by stacking the logic board will at least improve battery life, along with the oled tech.

If rumors are true, being able to do 4k/60fps is a pretty significant leap imo. Well see though.

Why spend so much as an argument exist because there are upstart phone companies making $400 phones that match the feature set of these $800-$1000 phones.

As for the facial recognition tech how long will it be before that's adopted into all the applications on the phones? It'll probably start out like Touch ID and 3D Touch and you'll be into the second generation of products with the tech because it's common in all apps.

The OPO5 is a great android phone imo. Again I look at the Android space differently because they're everywhere, so 1k for an android phone to me sounds a little overpriced. Hence why they don't hold value.

The Note 8 seems like a good phone, but the Note series used to be considered excess in terms of hardware/software. They upped the price by about 200 usd, used a smaller battery, still only use Quick Charge 2.0, and still don't have stereo speakers. The dual camera is there, but I prefer LGs way of doing it (wide angle) vs the regular zoom. Unless you seriously use the SPen every day and it's critical to your use, the S8+ is a better buy imo. The LG V30 seems to be a nice phone too.

looks to be the regular 7, size wise. The 8 is supposed to be slightly larger than the regular 7 but smaller than the plus. But they're stacking the logic board, so a battery similar to the plus size iphones will be able to fit inside the 8.

I don't care about speakers because I got a headphone jack and Sony mdr 650 bt...that don't effect me.

The S pen is the biggest difference maker in any smartphone.

Most people u know are lazy and non productive...shyt is a life saver.

:mjlol: breh now it's if you don't use the s pen you're lazy and unproductive? The Note 8 should've got a bigger battery then, since you wanted to be so productive on a 6" screen. Or at least quick charge 3.
