Walmart and Straight Talk to offer prepaid iPhone 4 and 5 starting January 11th

Walmart and Straight Talk today announced plans to offer the iPhone 4 and 5 on a no-contract plan, joining a small group of providers currently carrying Apple's flagship handset on a prepaid basis. The devices will be available as of January 11th at some 2,000 Walmart stores and on Walmart.com. The 16GB iPhone 5 will retail for $649, with the 8GB iPhone 4 priced at $449. Each can be purchased on one of Straight Talk's no-contract plans: either a $45 plan that offers unlimited data, text, and talk, or a $60 plan that adds unlimited international calls to select countries.

With today's announcement, Straight Talk becomes the latest company to offer prepaid iPhones, joining the likes of Leap Wireless and Cricket, which became the first carrier to do so back in June.

I expected better from Lenovo
Lenovo's 5.5-inch IdeaPhone K900 is powered by a dual-core Intel Atom processor

IMG_2847_large_verge_medium_landscape.jpg

Lenovo has just announced the IdeaPhone K900, a 5.5-inch smartphone for the Chinese market with a dual-core Intel processor. The K900 is one of the first phones on the market with Intel's new 2GHz dual-core Atom processor, and its display features 1080p resolution and a pixel density of over 400ppi. The phone is remarkably thin at only 6.9mm, which Lenovo claims is the thinnest for its class. Using both stainless steel and polycarbonate, the K900 is sharp and square where its competitors are soft and rounded.

Lenovo claims that it has "maximized the opportunity to be the first to market with the new generation platform" with the K900's Atom processor, and it insists that the phone is very responsive for activities such as web browsing and running apps. It appears that the K900 has a similar camera to the recently announced Sony Xperia Z, as it is 13-megapixels in resolution with a Sony Exmor backside illuminated sensor and bright f/1.8 lens. In your hand, the K900 feels really thin, but otherwise reminds us of a metal version of the aforementioned Xperia Z. Users can customize its appearance with four different metallic backs. We handled an early prototype version of the phone, which which was running Android 4.1 with a custom user interface. Interestingly enough, the skin can be turned off if you aren't a fan of Lenovo's interface design. Unfortunately, we weren't able to get any idea of the new processor's performance because of the early prototype state of the device. Lenovo says that it will be available in China beginning in April of this year, but pricing information is not yet available.

T-Mobile and Major League Baseball announced a partnership this week that will make the carrier the Official Wireless Sponsor of the MLB. That's mostly a pointless marketing phrase, but it does have one very real effect on baseball going forward: the dugout phone, the one that calls the bullpen to bring in a new pitcher, is about to become a cellphone. The "On-Field Communication System" will eventually expand to other parts of the game and stadium, but only after it's tested in the bullpen at the World Baseball Classic in Arizona — the league needs to be sure that T-Mobile's network lets us tell apart the names of the Astros' relievers before the technology is rolled out more broadly.

Major League Baseball has long been ahead of the game technologically, from MLB.tv to MLB.com At Bat. Landlines were the one flaw on its 21st-century resume, and we can only hope T-Mobile's going to bring America's pastime into the present once and for all.

I keep telling myself that my next phone is going to be a Nexus device, but every time I see one of these flagship devices from one of these companies I'm just :wow:

Same here.. And then what happens next

Google drops dessert on nikkas and everybody who's not rooted starts crying

When is myyyyy update coming.. Lol

Although I loved rooting.. I'm tired of that

Only reason I bought the gnex was to get off that cycle

But Google played us with the "US" versions vs this or that version

Got my N4 now .. it's powerful I'm gonna relax wait for my contact to expire

And enjoy vanilla stock android with on time updates.. fukk LTE

And all these other useless " features" that mofos won't use other than to show off to friends & fam

I do want a Note 2 .. But lesbiAnest.. I'm not gonna use that shyt for work.. Mobile apps are ass compared to my computer

A 13-14MP camera.. FOH. That really don't mean shyt either :russ:
