Took me a few tries got it working on my S8, now for google to make the announcement and roll out the upgrade publicly.
Sidenote: how do peeps even find out how this upgrade was even possible? Somebody internal at Google leak the steps?

Apparently, the Messages Beta app is installing with RCS enabled, regardless of carrier.
I did the hack, and haven't tested it out, tho.
Maybe Google finally said fukk these carriers, and is beginning a slow, methodical rollout to all Android phones.

only in terms of the increased file size limit and types of media you can send. google messages RCS will not have end-to-end encryption. so instead of your plain-text conversations and mms sitting on your carriers servers, they'll be on google servers.
