I'm not saying I don't trust Holmes I'm saying I think he's gonna cheap it out and not make a splashy move like going after Hendrickson and trying to capitalize on this window. He's going to try and mostly fix the defense issues either in the draft or with a patchwork of free agents at bargain prices. I don't think that's the thing to do here. It's only going to get harder and harder as time goes on.

The smaller swings at vets with age/injuriy issues aren’t working out, hopefully he learned something and aimed higher

This offseason doesn't matter if they don't beef up the pass rush. Trey Hendrickson is sitting right there. Whoever they pick at 28 in the draft will not be better than him this season and 2025 is all that counts.

I don't want to hear about threading the needle when they haven't won the Super Bowl.

I am not happy they cut Smith unless a bigger move is on the way. They need a better pass rush and he wasn't getting gang busters but he got sacks.

He was second on the team in sacks and only played eight games. Holmes better not fukk around this offseason. :beli:

I like the Reed signing, and the secondary depth from CB1-4 right now is good. That being said you cannot waste sticky secondary coverage by not addressing the pass rush. The longer receivers and QBs are moving around the more bad things happen. We'll see what happens, between FA and the draft.

Thought he would get a better a contract from someone. Teams probably scared off from injury history. Not a bad resigning at that price. He played well last year especially towards end of season

First "oh shyt" moment of the offseason for me. Maybe Glasgow improves now that he can move back to his natural RG position but I wouldn't bet on it. There has to be a major competition for that spot. Mahogony is really good, I got zero concerns about him. But Glasgow was one of the worst guards in football for the final 3-4 weeks of the season and he stunk in that playoff game.

This draft is full of great plug-and-play guards too.

I'd bet a grand that Mykel Williams is in the top 5 on the total Lions draft board this year. If he falls past 15 expect Holmes to start making calls about moving up to get him. Since 2021 when you look at the edge guys we've drafted or were rumored to really really like (Will Anderson, Marshawn Kneeland) they all have pretty similar traits. 6'3+, 260lb+ guys who set the edge, stop the run and can rush the passer. They prioritize run stoppers over pass rush flame throwers. Whether we like it or not...that's what Holmes, Campbell, etc want. The guys that fit that mold in the 1st round this year:

Mykel Williams
Nic Scourton
Shemar Stewart

Guys who don't meet the physical requirements but are really good in the run game:

Jalon Walker
Donovan Ezeiruaku

Guys who DON'T meet the physical requires and are poor run defenders:

James Pearce

They also prioritize guys who were really productive in college, which may rule out Stewart. But the Texas A&M scheme doesn't really prioritize pass rush so perhaps the Lions are fine with the low sack numbers. Personally I think if we go edge rusher in the 1st it'll be Williams or Scourton.

Really not feeling offseason so far. Way too conservative. Swapped Davis for Reed. Lost Zeitler. Brought back Davenport but released Zadarius Smith.

Rookie Edge players generally dont light world on fire immediately especially a late 1st or 2nd rd picks. Still need a starting Guard. Holmes just doesn’t seem to value pass rushers like he should. Wouldn’t shock me if they still went BPA and drafted a safety or something. If Hutchinson starts off slow coming off injury their in trouble again especially with Alim mostly like out until mid season
