I love that we paid these guys a day before the draft, which is in Detroit. Home grown drafted players getting rewarded for being elite. For the entire football world to see. We are finally a destination spot. And with the way Holmes is drafting? Odds are we take somebody Thursday, Friday, or Saturday who ends up getting paid big time in four years.

The conversation we had last year around this time was that any extension should hinge on how he played, specifically winning the division and a playoff game. He won the division and two playoff games. Pay that man.
Lions have like a two year window opening now. Goff is under contract for one more year. And they can franchise him after that. Don’t commit to him long term until you see if Hooker is anything. Lions have such a perfect situation for QBs. Most avg QBs will look great in this offense.
Lions will have to reup Hutch and Alim huge deals. Hutch’s contract will be insane. And Carlton Davis too if he has good year

Like @Piff Perkins said. Pay the man.

It's not madden. Why would we play hooker to find out if he's good? Watching him in practice doesn't tell the story of how he'll do on Sunday. Goff is the guy.. Live with it

When the Detroit Lions brought Alabama cornerback Terrion Arnold in for a pre-draft visit, it was understood they likely would have to trade up if they wanted to take him in the first round of Thursday's 2024 NFL draft in downtown Detroit.

Asked Wednesday what the Lions told him about their desire to do that, Arnold smiled and said, "That's classified information."

Arnold said he had a "great" visit with the Lions and can see himself as part of the team's revamped secondary. The Lions traded for Carlton Davis and signed Amik Robertson in free agency, but still are in the market for help at cornerback and safety in the draft.

"When I was there, just as far as going over schemes, being around the coaching staff, they have a very great team developing," he said. "Obviously, they were just on the borderline of making it to the Super Bowl and they’re trying to get back to that."

A part-time starter at Alabama in 2022, Arnold led the Tide and tied for the SEC lead with five interceptions in his first season as a full-time starter last year. He said playing for head coach Nick Saban has him ready to make "an immediate impact" in the NFL.

“I’m feeling great," he said. "I just want to stay calm and steady, even-keeled mindset, but I'm ready. Whatever organization selects me, I'm ready to get to work."

"Among the teams exploring a trade up are the Detroit Lions, who are sitting at 29. After two consecutive years of multiple first-round picks (which brought them Aidan Hutchinson, Jameson Williams, Jahmyr Gibbs and Jack Campbell), the Lions are likely looking for an edge opposite Hutchinson, or perhaps another corner."

Gotta be Jared Verse or Dallas Turner right? Latu might be the best of the edge rushers but that neck injury....I wouldn't trade up for him under any circumstances. You put Verse or Turner alongside Hutch, with Alim and Reader in the interior....this will be a top 15 defense at the lowest.

And while I'd be fine trading up for a CB, I think edge prob makes more immediate impact.
