I don’t agree that Chadwick in Da 5 Bloods was better than his performance in Ma Rainey.
Da 5 Bloods everybody was good but Delroy was star of that show and the one who deserved any awards that came with it.
Ma Rainey was Chadwick at his very best. He absolutely KILLED that role and commanded every scene he was in. One of the best pure acting performances i’ve ever seen

I don't mind Hopkins winning because he gave an excellent performance.
BUT it was wrong as hell for the Academy to telegraph the whole damn ceremony as if Chad was gonna win. They did all this shuffling and they weren't even aware of the winner beforehand? You got peoples hopes up for nothing and that old ass cac wasn't even there.
