So I'm 4 songs into Cat Power's new album...



"3,6,9" is EASILY the worst and corniest Cat Power of all time. "Ruin," when you really listen to the lyrics, is a close second in the corniest category.

I just needed to get that out of my system. NOT looking forward to the rest of this.

Edit: It's really, really bad. Chan Marshall decided to make a Metric record and it sounds like Metric making a folk record. Terrible, corny tripe.

I was lucky enough to go to Don Valley last year (their homecoming gig weekend), amazing. Then Nottingham last year, nearly as good. Sometimes they don't come off as good on TV at other festival but if you love their music like I do, I'd love any live gig.

They're at the Joshua Tree again apparently for this album, can't wait to here a new single or something.

I really didn't believe Nathan Schaffer in the Tiny Mix Tapes review when he stated that "Peace and Love" was easily the worst song he heard this year, but goddammit, Chan really wanted to prove me a faithless jackass, didn't she?

I hated, hated the Passion Pit album, but that at least had one decent song among its cloying garbage. Sun isn't worse than that (not even remotely close), but it plateaus at hilariously mediocre ("Ruin") and just keeps falling HARD from there.

I loved 'Ruin' before I paid any attention to the words, now I just ignore them . Liked 'Manhattan' too. This album was the first of hers I'd ever given a try, what're the differences between this & prior ones?
