So I'm finally hearing the newest Swans album..........

finally gave the new Daphni (aka Dan Snaith) (aka Caribou) record a listen

I loved 'Ruin' before I paid any attention to the words, now I just ignore them . Liked 'Manhattan' too. This album was the first of hers I'd ever given a try, what're the differences between this & prior ones?

Before Sun, Marshall did very sparse Indie Folk songs, most of the time accompanied by a rhythm section versed in Blues music. She did that for each of her albums until this one, where she decided that she didn't want to play guitar or piano on it at all.

If you want to try some of her old style out, listen to Moon Pix. It's, in my opinion, her best work.

In better news, Total Loss is really, really good. One of the few hyped releases to live up to its billing.
