No, I always thought it was due to the money backing him.
Lots of LGBT lobbies including the Hollywood lobby paid long money to get him into office.
This is why I don't understand why people are so angry at him saying what he said about BLM.
Protesting gets you to the table but money talks and organization maintains the message.
The gays are hella organized, moneyed and are heavily funding the democratic party.
Next up will be women and not because Hillary is a woman and loves women so much but because organizations like Emily's list, Planned Parenthood, etc. have heavily invested in the Democratic party. This will mean more women will have leadership roles in politics than ever before.
Thing is most people who vote democrat aren't really that involved in the party so they have no idea the true agenda.
I'm sure that when Obama was running talk of LGBT rights was being pushed at the forefront due to all the heavy backing. David Axelrod even said as such, that they had to convince Obama. .
Anyway, the black community has no leadership and no money.
Our organizations, Urban League, NAACP, etc are based on the old civil rights model, a protest model in a way. They highlight issues and ask the government for funds. What they don't do is lobby which would mean using money to influence policy.

In order to push any sort of reform on criminal justice, we have to start somewhere.(not to mention, this can lead to new things) And they can choose an different front man or woman for the job besides deray. also, what has george soros done?

BLM protesting and interrupting people who actually want to help this is "in poor taste". They don't get to have special treatment or moral high ground when they just brute force they're way into everything. What makes them any better than Tea Partiers that hate to get critiqued publically, but NEED to be?

Here they are, getting the ear and a private sit down with the President of the United States, the most powerful man in the world, and they refuse to even show up because it "might" jeopardize their moral purity. They don't seem to want to get anything done through work and compromise, so they probably won't get it done. You can't just fold your arms and pout simply because you don't get your way and expect everyone else to buckle. They have a lot more to lose than Obama does here, they need to conform to his requests, not the other way around. They have no leverage to argue their stance here.
