1) The vast majority of the homeless are black men
2) You see WAYYY more employed black women compared to black men
3) Black boys get treated like the plague in Oakland. It's disgusting. This one kid couldnt afford the fee for the train, so he stood there at the turnstile as CACs and Asians looked at him in disgust. I ended up just paying for him once I got there and noticed the situation. Just disgusting
4) Black women are intergrated into public life while black men arent

The town is trash right now…it’s both a gentrified shell of itself, while being prohibitively expensive AND high crime and blight. Like how TF can you pay $1.5M for a 1600sq ft house built in 1920 and walk two blocks and stumble across a whole tent village and abandoned restaurant tagged TF up. Pretty much outside of LA, the Bay, NY, and DC, you drop $1.5M on a home and you’re in a clean, well resourced residential environment.

There are some good restaurants but my experience in San Francisco was far more pleasant. But there's a lot of rich black history in Oakland in you want to soak some of that up.

Took a walk around lake merritt in oakland with just my camera and a 28mm pancake attached to it the other day

If you hit the hood with it, just have some sense and don't go wandering down any side streets and you'll be fine. Honestly you'll be safer with it on you than leaving it in your car these days.
