and tolerate the fukkery since its less than 24 hours combined, including the parade and then things go back to "normal"either way, i really wanna know how cats get all dressed up for j'ourvet and then be like "since people got killed last year, lemme take the strap in the event i need to kill someone this year"

they HAVE to throw it in the bushes considering how gentrified that whole Eastern Parkway area is now and the CACs that live there simply aint having that shyt anymore. I know people who live in that area who avoid being in their own fukkin crib for the whole weekend because of the preparation and fukkery associated with the parade.

I'm pretty sure they're also going to bring back talks to shorten the length of the main parade, something Bloomberg tried to do repeatedly since the early 00s.
They've been itching so long to get it down to 3 or 4 hours instead of the 8 hour monster that it is.
the parade/atmosphere as it is now is already trimmed down from what it used to be. back in the day when i went as a kid, the vibes went well into the night and you felt more "free" to move about. now the whole shyt is barricaded off and by 5pm, cops are already nudging people to get their asses back on the train and outta the area. by 7pm, sanitation is already cleaning up the park way so life gets back to normal. Part of it is that the area has gotten so
over the years so of course the new local residents just arent having that shyt anymoreas far as j'ouvert, i can see it going straight to the bushes. after that dude who worked for Cuomo got killed last year, it put a whole new spotlight on the whole shyt and whatever happened this morning doesnt exactly help things either. shyt is crazy because when you go out to Miami carnival, NONE of this shyt happens. Part of it is that the crowd that goes there is much older and not with the fukkery, but still, this dumb shyt happens every year.
I haven't gone in over a decade. I might have to go just to see this.
It's not even that serious or funny the way it reads. It's actually the smart and efficient thing to do. When the last float passes, time to go. You don't want people lingering around. That's when bullshyt happens. Plus they want to clean up the Parkway as soon and quick as possible.

I think you might be underestimating the size and influence of the West Indian community. But we will see. The one thing Jouvert has against is that it's not even affiliated with the people who throw the labor day parade.
I'm not underestimating because I used to fukk with it (and the parade) heavy, but lets be real about how the demographic along Eastern Parkway and around it has changed. You know who is really running the show out there and they only "tolerate" the parade because it's 1 day.
i don't feel like the parade is in danger because if they mess with that then it would be an issue and alot of politicians love to use the parade as a way to show out and campaign for free.
