NY should do what The West just did. Which artist from Kendricks generation can spearhead the movement and lead th show?

Notice that all the examples you gave stopped in the 90’s. Where’s the same thing towards Kendrick’s generation? The guys you listed such as Ja Rule, AZ;etc. didn’t seem to carry the torch to the new generation. Most of them seem to be about themselves. Did Ja Rule mentor new rappers? Hov? The most current rapper on this list is probably French Montana.

No one in NYC continuously passes the torch the way Dre does. Dre is the King maker. No one in NY has that type of flex.

2 things wrong with this comment.

1) You originally said: NYC and the east coast however hasn't fostered a culture of passing down the torch. All those names I posted confirms that comment was a lie. Also...U obviously didnt read that list because I pointed out that Hov put on Tru Life and Uncle Murda who are both from NYC and you're still asking who did Hov put on.
:snoop:

2) When u mention Dr Dre you are talking about someone who has had a record label since the early 90's and comparing him to east coast equivalents that dont have a record label. Preemo, Pete Rock, Havoc, Eric Sermon, Marly Marl.....None of these guys have record labels so comparing them to Dre who can sign new artists doesn't match up.

Because French Montana sucks and apparently because he’s a nice guy nobody wants to say out aloud but French Montana ain’t inspiring not one single goddamn person to lay down arms and unite with someone they have beef with for the greater good. French doesn’t stand for or represent that. He’s not an inspiring or aspiring figure to move people in that way. It would be like seeing Bob Marley unite Jamaica to the point where he got two warring political factions to embrace in peace and then expecting Ray Parker Jr to do the same.

But lets be real here. The Drake battle is what gave that Kendrick concert hype. There are currently no top NYC rappers battling another top rapper. Thats why I pointed out that 50 already did something 5 years ago with a concert of unity with his peer rappers that he was once beefing with. Dudes came in here and shot that down so I mentioned French and how he patched things up with Jim Jones and how if Max and French and Jim were all on the same stage that would be big and dudes shot that down too.

So if u shoot down 50 and French then asking the question about who can do the same thing Kendrick did makes no sense because aint no top NYC rappers currently beefing with another top rapper to create that type of hype. That's why OP is a troll for even asking such a question. The closest we have to top NYC rappers beefing currently is Nicki and Cardi but their beef isn't fresh, it's years old and doesn't have that fresh new hype the Drake and Kendrick beef has. I could mention how the possibility of Nicki and Cardi B patching up their beef at a concert would be big but dudes would just shut that down too and I lost interest in this thread and am just responding to people who are quoting me.

You’re moving goal posts. In the past nyc had a culture of passing the torch but the nyc legends fought and competed to be top of nyc to the point where 50 Cent decimated the whole block. They all beefed with each other to see who was the best to the point where they didn’t focus on building the new gen. None of them have fostered a protege like Kendrick. Not a single one. Nas tried it with Quan until he left Columbia for Def Jam. Barely any of the rappers you named that count as protégés are current which is what this thread is about: current or 30’s aged legit mainstream rappers. Most of the rappers you listed are well into their 40’s and 50’s which only goes to prove nyc has not fostered the same culture LA did.

:duck:

I mentioned 3 that are current and you ignored that twice to act like they don't exist.

Nas...Dave East

AG from Showbiz and AG...Girl Code

Nicki...Ice Spice

And I mentioned rappers from the past to prove that you were wrong when u said NYC and the east coast however hasn't fostered a culture of passing down the torch.

So I gave you 90's, 2000's 2010 and 2020 and you are still Juelzing so I'm going to end this back and forth because you are just arguing for the sake of arguing at this point. I mention Hov and how he put on Tru Life and Uncle Murder and you responded with "but but but but what about Hov?":snoop:

Once you did that I said to myself "This guy isn't even paying attention and just wants to argue." So I'm done.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
If Nicki and Cardi patched shyt up on stage and had a pop out concert. Everybody gonna be at that muthafukka. But like I said before the biggest artists to come outta NYC in Kendrick's generation that are still moving is women. Not to mention Kendrick built off the momentum of a huge battle with the biggest rapper in the world.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but Joey Badass ain't nobody. He's at the tier of being part of the one song/two song set. He's a cosplay rapper. Tyler could do the shyt in NYC and get more love than Joey Badass. Lets stop with thr bullshyt.
