NY should do what The West just did. Which artist from Kendricks generation can spearhead the movement and lead th show?

Jay could pull it off but dudes were stressing specifics about a NYC rapper from Kendricks era. Jay is waaaaay bigger then Kendrick (pause) and is literally attached to The Barclays and Roc Nation so to say no NYC artist could pull it off is a bullshyt lie.

True can only be Jay but remember Jay these days spends all of his time on the West coast no? :troll:

Kendrick is unique because he always maintained his gangbanging ties without being a gang banging rapper. His music always has had substance and never depended on the theatrics of gangsta rap. Musically he's always been able to stay neutral and because of that he gained respect from both Blood and Crip.

But the most important aspect of Kendrick's catalog is his music has always had substance and he has always created music that will stand the test of time. There is no doubt in my mind his music will still be popular 30 years from now.

Rocky and all the New York rappers from his era have Zero Substance. Joey Has some intellect in his music, but his music simply isn't that good enough to change the culture. And Rocky's best music is usually on some drugged out psychedelic shyt that really doesn't move anything either.

I ain't gonna knock him, he dropped a great album even tho it flopped numbers wise. He's still a big enough star in his region to the point where he's able to pack out arenas all throughout the northeast, that's more than anybody else out of NY who debuted in the 2010s can say besides Nicki/Cardi/maybe Rocky. But he's clearly nowhere near the star that Kendrick is to be his NY equivalent that could pull off what he just did.
A boogie can sell out arenas nationwide and internationally

Detroit ain’t the Northeast he sold that out just recently

The stars from Kendrick’s generation are Rocky and Nicki but yes you will never be able to unite the gangs to do this

I don’t know who performed at Kendrick’s event but it was probably the same industry underground LA cats who are older and more mature

French, Cardi, A boogie for example can’t even do songs together because of these politics and lil Dthang is dissing A boogie a nikka not even from his generation who is rich for not being on the block because of clout chasing but also the politics YGz and Highbridge beef

As a matter of fact NYPD won’t even allow it they regulate Rollin Loud and Summer Jam they Def ain’t letting something like this happen

NY too competitive for this. They all hate each other meanwhile the west rides for each other (for the most part). The west been about mentorship since Dre found Snoop. It's always been about passing down the torch from Dre to Snoop to Game to Kendrick. Those that aren't about passing the torch and west coast family get the boot (see Game). NYC and the east coast however hasn't fostered a culture of passing down the torch. They were culturally about either being the best or fighting for scraps to be the best or underground dudes judging the mainstream (The Roots;etc). Artists like Mos Def ideally should have been handed the torch by mainstream NYC guys like Jay. Instead guys like Jay and Puff just ate and got fat and made it about themselves.

NYC hip hop is far more individualistic.

Nah,dont try to exclude Nas out of this now. Why havent Nas and Jay tried to put on young east coast nikkas. Jay had Rocafella before,I know he had Dame at the time too. But the longer he waits, its looking like he cant create another Rocafella,as much as Dame cant create another Hov.

2 things wrong with this comment.

1) You originally said: NYC and the east coast however hasn't fostered a culture of passing down the torch. All those names I posted confirms that comment was a lie. Also...U obviously didnt read that list because I pointed out that Hov put on Tru Life and Uncle Murda who are both from NYC and you're still asking who did Hov put on.
:snoop:

2) When u mention Dr Dre you are talking about someone who has had a record label since the early 90's and comparing him to east coast equivalents that dont have a record label. Preemo, Pete Rock, Havoc, Eric Sermon, Marly Marl.....None of these guys have record labels so comparing them to Dre who can sign new artists doesn't match up.

Damn,i forgot about Tru Life and Uncle murda. No wonder Jay threw in the towel:scust:

The last potential great I remember from New York was Stack Bundles. Created some buzz off that M.O.B tape. That was about 14 years ago:francis:

Hopefully this Kendrick Drake fued inspires some inspiration that creates a snowball effect. It should even inspire Nas and Jay at this point.
