Been around many places and I've heard this trope of "loud NY guy getting beat up" alot... Never actually seen it but I heard it alot.

Like u said, I usually saw NYers come down and get all the bytches and everybody wanna be their friend. Curious about their slang and how they dress.
Probably talking sht behind their backs tho.
And make up stories about how they beat them up after they leave and go back up top.

I just spoke on this yesterday there have been plenty of times people here would be lined up outside waiting on a new release. The stores started letting you preorder them. I don’t know what part of the south you was in but in NC the only Filas I ever seen anyone wear is Grant Hills and Jerry Stackhouse that was mid 90s. People been wearing Jordans here especially in the 90s. By the time Nelly came out with the Air Force One song and everyone and their grandma had them I was done. We wore whatever y’all rappers wore cuz we didn’t really have a voice in the mainstream like that but once you saw cash money and Atl took over they brought their style. I was never a fan of reeboks. I always wore Js or uptowns once that Nelly song came out I was done. We wore air maxes too.

I was close to Charlotte. And new nikkaz from Fayetteville.
Parts of NC ain't crazy southern and alot of katts seem inspired by NY style, similar to Virginia.

But copying what u see rappers do and understanding the culture because ur actually in it and helping to shape it in real time is different

So maybe u was doing something different than everybody else out there. But nah... Them down south katts was not Fly on some NY sht.
Didn't mean they didn't dress nice tho

I’ve seen it happen too many times in my life. So if you heard it other places then you know I’m not making this up. Dudes down south a lot us come from a home with both parents there and grandparents we have strong family ties. We taught respect you NY dudes come here disrespectful calling us slow our towns slow etc. Something I never understood if it’s slower (which the pace is) and yall complain and all that just stay where you are. But our culture is good here good food, nice homes, family friendly, bad women, I mean we got hbcus here the south just different. We just don’t like disrespect because we won’t raised liked that to be disrespectful southern charm a real thing.

I can only go by what I see.
I've lived everywhere and nikkaz ain't never press me.
They seem to be more curious about NYers, just like the bytches.
They Like the slang and the style.
But deep down, I'm sure they think NYers think we're tough so they might have alil hate in their hearts.
I've seen too many loud ass older aggressive NYers prosper down south to believe they always getting their ass beat tho lol
But u can only talk about ur experiences. So I get it.

But I fck with the south heavy. I liked that they're different than NYers. More relaxed, laid back. Never seem to be looking for problems.
The living in the south is obviously more affordable.
We go down there because it was slow and nice. That's not a bad thing.

Charlotte is a place move to for work, school, and good area to raise a family. Fayetteville is official military town no games out there and Lumberton. I already stated yall was once the trendsetter for fashion and Raekwon the reason most of us rock Hilfiger and Ralph Lauren. No we won’t in NYC but yall had a stronghold on the game yall dictated the terms of what was hot from music to fashion. When another region start bubbling a lot of times yall don’t approve it but we support yall. Yall done the same with the west. It was a gift and a curse cuz the south and the west had to learn the independent hustle and we mastered that while yall was getting raped by yall record labels. Now fast forward yall wanna be independent now. All we ask is yall show us respect like we show yall respect. I wouldn’t move to NY on some “ol it stink here” Na wherever I’m at I show love. Because that’s how you get it back.

Nah Air force 1 was an NY thing back in the 80s when they first came out. But they had a resurgence in the 00s thanks to ATL.

Jordans are a universal staple.
U mean STL right? :heh:

They got a resurgence in the 2010’s because of G Herbo and Chicago.
