Nitro and Raw went back in forth until late 99. This is good for the business.

WCW/WWF went back in forth throughout 95 to summer 96.. This is great.. It forces one company to step it up

I don't know if this battle is necessarily good for business tho.

nitro & raw co-existed as two distinctly different types of shows. they also had a built-in rivalry that existed over a decade before the Monday night wars.

on the other hand, AEW & NXT are both new to TV and are basically cannibalizing each other and splitting their own ratings in half, as theyre providng essentially the same product.

I had this conversation with @Rayzah and I said the same thing. A lot it was just WWE fans hoping this would make WWE better as opposed to being a promotion they could migrate to. Also not all disgruntled wrestling fans want the same thing as an 'alternative' and are disgruntled for the same reason. There are the minority of traditionalist who want a match heavy show light on spots and focused on psychology and story telling, there are fans who want an edgier sports entertainment show where it's atitude era 2.0 and there are fans who wanted to be apart of a wrestling boom that ain't there. None of that is AEW's fault however them making their show on idea of everyone already knows us so we don't have to introduce ourselves and this idea that they're made men who can do jobs and make stars without damaging themselves has also been a mistake.

yea, all the alternative talk is lame.
what about the people who just want wrestling, regardless of where its coming from?
you can tell the real wrestling fans from the WWE fans.

i have no problems with the bolded. i think they should stick to it and keep aiming at the core audience. every company not named the WWE, ends up holding a massive L when they cater towards casuals.

AEW's problem is that theyre splitting their viewers with NXT. they wouldve been better off going up against raw or smackdown. not saying they would out-draw those shows, but their own ratings would be considerably higher.
also, ive been saying from the jump that putting the belt on jericho was a terrible move. people dont want to keep it a bean about that tho.

AEW ain't gonna last a year with these soft fakkits at the helm :hhh:

Imagine them in the locker room in the 80s

Their roster is terrible at social media because they can't just ignore shyt.

Dude didn't tag Scorpio or anything. Scorpio found the shyt & made himself look dumb trying to compare that dive spot to the clip he brought. Can't just ignore it & keep it moving for some reason.

I think they and Cody respond to too many fans. Celebrities that respond to regular people invite trolling for their attention because they want a response too and it’s easier to get a response typing bullshyt

They could also just not vanity search & make their lives a lot better.

Bucks been on that wave of vanity searching & blocking people when they find something they don't like, & since it's the internet, that's always going to be there no matter what you do. No reason for dudes to go looking for negative shyt & then getting upset when they find it.

First of all :dead: at Dustin saying call out people who expose the business while working for AEW.

Second of all :dead: at Arik Cannon saying it was him when he was on a show in a whole different state that night. Dudes brother is an EVP & he ain't got a clue who was even in there under those masks with him.

Gotta let AEW breathe for a bit before rushing to call it a failure.

1) No one working there has ever ran talent relations or a fed before (being born to someone who has doesn't count) so it's trial by error for the most part
2) If the Elite won all the time, people on here would be bytching about them having 5 Jeff Jarretts instead of putting other people over
3) They need to cut the goth factions down to one instead of having two of them along with the tag team
4) They've quickly realized that pushing Britt Baker initially was a mistake and are moving her down the card. Same can be said for Riho who more than likely will be losing the title in February
5) Tag teams are taken seriously and given time to show out
6) Jericho is bloated and washed but he's been able to elevate others and is cutting the best promos of his career

There's going to be bumps in the road for a new company. If they're making the same mistakes by the summer instead of learning from them, then there should be cause for serious concern.
The thing that ya'll keep failing to bring up when ya'll bring this up is that AEW wanted the smoke first. The ones that were so sure that AEW was going to come in and crush buildings weren't telling people to be patient, and that's because ya'll weren't using common sense. Cody and his cronies are at fault because they were taking constant shots at the WWE when they should've just been building up their brand. TNA didn't come out against WWE because they knew that would be suicide, the shots at the company only started happening when they kept signing former WWE talent. AEW also needs to stop listening to smarks because all they want are flippy shyt guys wrestling in iron man matches.

Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com noted the following regarding AEW Dynamite's viewership numbers against NXT:

“They [AEW] definitely have evidence that during the commercial breaks people go to NXT. This is why they started doing the insets more because of that very factor. That is why they do it because they did do that.”

“What they found also is that NXT don’t go to AEW. The NXT fan base for the most part is not an AEW fan base, but the AEW fans do like NXT.”

Bryan Alvarez also mentioned that Chris Jericho is the apparently the only person that hasn't lost to AEW in head-to-head segments:

The exception is that undefeated still is Le Champion Chris Jericho. Chris Jericho’s segment beat NXT. Chris Jericho is the only individual whose segment has never been eaten by NXT. I believe Chris Jericho is the only individual who has never lost viewers. So, he is Le Champion.”
Not surprised since Jericho seems to be the only person there that knows how the business works, all hail Le MAGA Champion:win:

long post, but will say that some people online are being way too harsh on AEW about the terrible punches to end this week's show. yes it was terrible and a bad look, but shyt happens :yeshrug:especially when you're relying on a lot of bingo hall wrestlers who have never performed on a level of live, major cable television :yeshrug:

with that said, AEW's biggest problems IMO are these two things,

1. there are too many wrestlers/talent in positions of power and control
2. said wrestlers in said position are catering to the smart marks and not a mainstream audience

some may not agree with this, but talent like Cody, Brandi, Young Bucks, Kenny, etc. have absolutely no business making the main decisions. now that's not to say that they (along with EVERY wrestler) shouldn't have any say, but they definitely shouldn't be calling the shots. you have to have someone or a small group of those in power who are separate from the in ring talent to run the show if they want this thing to be successful on a MAINSTREAM level.

the smart mark/bingo hall/Japan-obsessed wrestling fans will always be there, but those diehard fans only make up of a few hundred thousand viewers at most.... and that's fine if TNT is perfectly happy with AEW only drawing a few hundred thousand people, but the reality is that likely won't be the case with TNT in the future. TNT is paying for all of the live production (which is rumored to cost around $400,000 per week) and if AEW falls below the 500k ratings mark, they likely won't even break even for TNT financially much less turn a profit.

IMO.... AEW needs to find a good 75/25 or so balance of how they cater to the audience (75 to mainstream / 25 to smart marks)... more stories, more drama, more sex appeal from the women, more selling, more cliff hanger moments ....AND less long/drawn out fake fighting from tiny male wrestlers :yeshrug:

there is a reason why 50-year old Chris Jericho's segments are the only ones to not lose to NXT :yeshrug:his promos/story telling are money
