You know what's wild?

Sony has bought more studios than microsoft has up until 2018.

Microsoft bought Rare and Mojang, in 2002 and like 2013. Rare was basically a dead company outside of there IP's and Mojang was for minecraft which was a killer buy for them.

Sony bought sucker punch in 2011, Guerrilla in 2005, Naughty dog in 2001, and insomniac in 2019

but yeah sure whatever yall say:mjlol:

Sony bought small studios that had over 90% of their entire gaming output on their platform, similar to nintendo purchasing monolith soft or next level games. Not entire publishers. Even then those acquisitions were years apart

microsoft has purchased 15+ developers in 2 years. So it’s not that wild to me:yeshrug:

Sony bought what they could afford, microsoft is buying what they can afford.

For all of the xb1's life they tried to do the Kumbaya peace offering, everyone play together. But fans and stans made it clear that 1st and foremost they want exclusives, so microsoft open the wallet. Now you won't have a choice to play their games somewhere on some device, after 2022 things are going to look way different in the gaming industry.

It seems like Sony doesn't just buy studios outright. They funded games for exclusivity from smaller studios and bought them once they proved themselves.

I don't think Microsoft was playing nice for 3 generations. They just had poor leadership that didn't want to fund unproven money makers, never took the gaming industry as serious as Sony and Nintendo.

Now they have decent leadership who's doing what should have been done during the 360 era.

Its money but also benefits. How many sick days do the coders, artists etc. Get? What about maternity or paternity leave? Vacation days? Flex time? People stay in their jobs if there's a good culture and there are benefits and pay showing that their presence is appreciated.

But all of that boils down to money.

Staffing is a big part of it and hiring practices as well. You don't hire a smart a$$hole who you know will do the job when you can hire a competent person who is friendly and who wants to learn and likes working with others.
