OK looked up strong lifts info...its a strength training program not much different than I do for reverse pyramids except I take weight off and rest 2-3 minutes in between...next workout I also add 5lbs

But on some exercises I mix lower weight high reps 30second rest for sarcoplasmic growth

Dukey the strong lifts program seems like a decent program but have a good clean diet and add in abs and hiit cardio if you want a nicer physique to compliment your strength training

Cardio will not make you lose muscles its bull shyt... just something lazy people thought off

Well as long as you dont go longer then 3 minutes at 90% heart rate...dial it back for a minute and then sprint again st high heart rate

I've got a few things to add to this..

I've been adding weight all wrong.. I've been adding 5lbs to each side instead of 2.5. I still did it all though

Still worried about my form..Felt like my deadlift form was all wrong.. I'll keep watching BB.com instructional videos though

pressing that olympic bar had me :lift: even though it was just the bar

Alright doubt the cardio show us your six pack abs you've gotten without it...granted if your calories are below maintenance for a specific period of time and you do abs a few times a week they will show but why neglect a great fat burning tool

Body fat composition makes a world of difference to a physique who cares if you've got giant muscles with no definition

there are countless people who maintain extremely low bodyfat without cardio

cardio for fatloss is a myth, youre just burning blood sugar

its a means to an end in creating a caloric deficit, but it isnt the most effective one

but there is nothing wrong with cardio in terms of increasing endurance, stamina, and training your heart/lungs

I always maintained low body fat without cardio...it all depends on diet

But I disagree that steady state cardio doesn't create fat loss especially after interval cardio which has been shown to release fatty acids and increase vo2 max which is oxygen capacity and endurance.

Your line of lazy personal trainer thinking is why the gym is filled with big but flabby unsymmetrical gut having patrons who are shaped like a giant pear.

All these Arnold bodybuilding squat dead lift heavy programs won't create anywhere near the same unrealistic gains unless they are in the gym 3 times a day like Arnold was and juiced and ate as many calories

What you end up with is fat pear shaped fat over muscles guy with no symmetry who is aiming for failure on every set

Although not with strong lifts which has a decent philosophy But could use some adjustments in my opinion

I would encourage a guy with a build like dukey to at least do some cardio on off days...the endurance will aid in becoming a better lifter especially if you have a strong core

word? :rudy:

everyone i train here has lost 25 or more pounds

the problem with people like you is that you were never heavy to understand what "losing weight" really is

and because of that, you dont actually know what works or what doesnt. Because you have never been through the mental OR physical rigors of having to lose significant weight

but believe what you want :cheff:

You are right I've never had the body type to be fat and was always skinny as a youngster regardless of pizza McDonald's or finishing a whole carton of ice cream

I'm certain we agree way more than we disagree but I place more importance on cardio than you do but ultimately diet is king

What you achieved is a great testament to discipline and your a model to follow. I hope I'm not perceived as disrespectful towards you.

There are so many conflicting theories in this industry so we are all bound to disagree at some point.

as an ex-wrestler who used to cut regularly and run 3 miles every morning, cardio isnt bad by any means, but it isnt the fat burner people want to believe it is. Its just a means of creating a calorie deficit

it took me getting heavy for me to realize this

because just like you, i attributed my leanness at the time to the intense work i did every day

but in terms of achieving aesthetics as quickly as possible, ive learned otherwise, from people like Rakich, Valenzuelatech, Spliff, Krack and other folks who have mentored me along the way to where i am now

the problem with the industry...is people prescribing their workouts to people who cant handle them

and their reasoning based on nothing but their own opinion rather than science.
