I've pulled over people because they were swerving and their BAC was 0.06.
One drink (glass of wine, pint of beer, shot of liquor) does not take you to 0.05. You have to take into consideration the person's weight and how fast they were drinking.
If you drink a glass of beer, you are going to reach 0.01. If you chug a glass of beer in 20 seconds on an empty stomach, you will reach 0.01 faster, not higher, than if you had a dinner and it drank the beer over a course of 30 minutes.

In police academy, we spent one day where half the glass drank and half the class practiced giving the SFSTs. One beer after an hour took people to 0.009 to 0.011. So, it would take about 5 beers to get to 0.05.


What they are going to have to do is change the SFSTs if they lower the BAC to 0.05. It is much easier to pass the SFST, walking a line, standing with one foot up, at 0.05 than at 0.08.

These nikkas are stupid as fukk. I deal with people everyday that has had DWIs and most of them are just as clueless when they come in to see me. A member of my staff had a sister that was killed by a drunk driver. If these dumb ass coli nikkas want to drink and drive that's on them. Hopefully they only end up killing themselves and not any innocent bystander. I don't have any empathy for people that put themselves and the rest of us in danger because of their ignorance and stupidity.

Fatal accident stats gathered by NHTSA

Drivers 16-20 - 5% had a BAC of .01-.07
Drivers 21-35 - 5% had a BAC of .01-.07

Drivers 16-20 - 43% had a BAC of .15 or higher
Drivers 21-34 - 60% had a BAC of .15 or higher

that would mean the other %52 for 16-20, and 35% for people 21-34 fell between .08-.14

looks like my .10 parameter was a good guess

i dont really agree with this... idk how much alcohol it takes to get .05, but i doubt its very much. i dont think someone like me who likes to go out and have few needs some harsh ass penalty if i get pulled over. it takes quite a bit for me to get so drunk i cant drive. i feel like things like this are more for lightweights. maybe someone who rarely drinks is a threat from .05 but i think the majority of people can handle more than that and shouldnt be fukked over completely because of it. just my opinion

The thing about it is, the majority of people who drink and drive(if not all of them) think exactly like you, when it comes to them holding their liquor.

Talking on a cell phone
Texting on a cell phone
Looking at a cell phone
Reaching for a cell phone
Talking to your passengers
Reaching for your kids in the backseat
Having kids in the car, period
Singing along loudly to a song on the radio
Looking at a billboard
Sneezing
Coughing
Yawning

the real question, which noone seems to even be concerned with, is how many accidents have been caused by people with a BAC of .08. I'd bet the answer is very few.......

and if the answer is indeed very few..........then what exactly does reducing a BAC of .08 to .05 intend to do?

people think 6 beers are putting them at .08 when in reality they are at .13 or more. if we lower it the fukking imbeciles who are like "i can handle it, im superman, 5 shots wont hurt, i dont feel drunk, i can drink an entire 12 pack by myself" lower there drinking amount even by their stupid reasoning they are less likely to harm themselves or others.

its really for their protection, but they dont see it. people dont realize that your bac spikes over a period of two fukking hours and it only leaves your system at about 1 drink per hour. but let a fakkit drink until they are about to throw up then drink water or have coffee for 30 minutes, then they are cool to drive everything is ok, then you have bytch ass nikkas on the news cryin about how they were a good person. i hate westboro baptist church but they should protest people who die drunk driving's funeral, that i could advocate.
