But the general idea of what the NSA was doing was known by congress and it was made legal by the patriot act

The NSA was listening illegally and it was exposed and the system was changed to clarify and legalize procedures with the full knowledge of the courts and congress

I think that is what you guys don't get, nothing snowden has exposed has been shown to be illegal
