Greenwald is an emoprog who lives in Brazil and blogs for a UK newspaper, he will not win the battle for public opinion in the red white and blue, it is what it is
It has more to do with the "aiding a spy" narrative. I don't know Snowden's motivations. I won't call him a hero. But, the substance of what he says is important. Publications seems to be confirming his story. What's even more damning is the joke that this FISA court seems to be.

The FISC is supposed to operate as a check. But it is a secret court, notorious for its low rate of denial. From 1979 to 2002, it did not reject a single application. Over the past five years, out of nearly 8,600 applications, only two have been denied.

FISA needs to be re-worked terribly :smh:

It's only funny because Ecuador doesn't give a shyt about their own freedom of the press at all. Like that President is basically a sworn enemy of the media. But all these other countries couldn't pass on a chance to shyt on the US :pachaha:

One of the funnier elements of all of this, honestly. Rafael fukking Correa is the guy who's publicly supporting Snowden, of ALL people. And he's giving Assange asylum.

Just weird in isolation.

yeah, the nsa has always tapped foreign communications, there are no restrictions on that and there shoudlnt be and it taps people in the US if you communicating with people that are under investigation

lol if that's the case why did they pass the patriot act if all that was possible without it?:jada:

You have no clue...Ron Paul warned as this day will come and he was 100% spot on...

For the people who think he's a spy, one question:

Why in the hell would a spy for the Chinese government give information to the Guardian and other journalists to expose to the public, then reveal himself and put intense focus on anything he does. If he was a spy, wouldn't he have used the information in a way that aids the country he's working for, but does NOT put an intense focus on anything related to the PRISM system?

What good does a public mess highlighting everything about the system a country would theoretically want secret information on do said country, especially one that exposes their mole?

the patriot act was passed to make it all legal and to clarify procedures

im on the fence on the patriot act, but there is nothing that has been revealed that i find shocking, i assumed the NSA was doing stuff like that and everybody that voted for the patriot act should have known that this was happening, if they didnt they are stupid

if you want to keep it real, him coming out in public makes it harder for him to have a "car accident" or "suicide" or get kidnapped by 3 letter dudes

It's a smear campaign from the Obama Administration, his followers and the Neo Con.

The fact that you wasted a second in giving it legitimacy speaks to the effectiveness of it.

Daniel Ellsberg said he was initially labeled as a spy and traitor.

I wasted a second on it to discredit it, because it's intensely stupid.

Ellsberg and a few other commenters said that this would happen, but I thought that merely thinking over his actions would kill that line of thought immediately for people in this forum. How wrong I was...

I'm about to be labeled an "Obama supporter again" (if you haven't noticed that what happens around here when you make any contrary or legal arguments while still supporting the same goal...which is why I barely post...shyt look in this very thread), but I can't agree with your line of thought. There are infinite reasons why someone who is a spy would act contrary to what we would believe. History is riddled with examples of the public catching onto the motivations of individuals until files are declassified like 30 years later. Personally, I don't know is motivations, and I doubt he's a spy but I won't pretend that there's a definitive line of reasoning that makes it entirely improbable. We don't know everything about what he had access to and what his value would be overall. But I doubt he's a spy, but they're just that. I think you're missing the contradiction in you and TUH (especially) him claiming that his character doesn't matter and that people trying to tear down his character are speculating and trying to divert from the main issues, while defending a portion of his character based on the same unsubstantiated conjecture.

i think they only tap the device of the suspect/target and not the devices of everyone communicating with the target/suspect...

well this is where it gets blurry and where i kinda get on the fence, cuz you have to ask what is the technical definition of tapping?

in the traditional sense of tapping, nobody except bad guys were getting tapped

the issue is that the NSA collects information without looking at it, it just collects it, that isnt tapping in the traditional sense because the NSA isnt reading the info

now a lot of people say that is illegal but the majority of congress, the executive branch and the courts all said it was legal and signed off on it, their response is that nobody is being actually tapped by the process of collecting information :manny:

all i can say is that its an open question and you should express your opinion in the next election
