Now that the hype is completely gone, can we admit Kendrick Lamar doesn't have a classic verse

Half of these haters think Future is God

:childplease:

Look at my avi.. The guy who Nas got his whole style from and is 10x the rapper Kendrick wishes he was. Stop the bullshyt. Just cause we ain't fallin for the okey dokey y'all easily impressed by don't mean shyt

And even if people think future is dope or God so what? No one claiming future is a goat "real hip hop artist" & lyricist of this gen

The Deep State
Look at this anti-intellectual ya'll.

:scust:When did being lyrically 100 steps ahead of your peers make you pretentious?
nikka, I have a masters degree in a field 90% of the Coli would fail in and am pursuing a professional degree.

Stop it

This is the problem with you dweebs and that includes Cole acolytes.

You love these artists because you're idiots yourselves. These artists are "deep" to you.

No. They're pretentious. Only dumbasses don't know how stupid they are and cling to these fake-deep artists. You all never had role models or educated people around you so you cling to them as if they're doing something profound.

So what if he drops a few socially progressive bars? So what if he hamfists some generic "come together world" bullshyt.

It sucks as music.

Its precisely why his attempt at creating another anthem with Beyonce on "Freedom" was and will be an utter flop.

No one I know (and thats Drs, PhD's, MD's, DDS, JD's etc) listens to that pretentious shyt. We know its entertainment so we treat it as such.

If we want education we're getting books, going to lectures, listening to podcasts, etc.

We're not listening to some high school level bullshyt from some rapper who claims to be some smartass know it all with a fraction of the wisdom of actual rap GOATS who grew up in the streets but know how to entertainingly push the same issues in way more creative ways.

So no, i'm not impressed with someone who raps with a college degree...because i'm not reading dissertations...i'm listening to music first and foremost and if it fails to entertain me, regardless of content, then its failed.

So Soulja Boy's first verse on Crank That is classic? :comeon:

Kendricks hook writing has to be one of the most underrated parts of his pen game.

exhibit a:

Every second, every minute, man I swear that she can get it
Say if you a bad bytch put your hands up high, hands up high, hands up high
Tell 'em dim the lights down right now, put me in the mood
I'm talking 'bout dark room, perfume, go, go

exhibit b:

Man down, where you from, nikka?"
"fukk who you know, where you from, my nikka?"
"Where your grandma stay, huh, my nikka?"
"This m.A.A.d city I run, my nikka

Just because an artist is considered bad doesn't mean they can't have "classic songs".
Years from now, I'm sure We'll look back & realize that Chief Keef put out classic music.. Music that impacted the whole of hip hop & the sound of it.

Classic Verses:
Nosetalgia

[Verse 2: Kendrick Lamar]
You wanna see a dead body?
Instrumentals from my momma's Christmas party
Troubles on my mind
I still smell crime, my little brother crying
Smokers repeatedly buying my Sega Genesis, either that
Or my auntie was stealing it,
hit the pipe and start feeling it
Oh wee, cut me some slack, weed never did that
This was different, geez, Louise please help me relax
Quantum physics could never show you the world I was in
When I was ten, back when nine ounces had got you ten
And nine times out of ten, nikkas don't pay attention

And when there's tension in the air, nines come with extensions
My daddy turned a quarter piece to a four and a half
Took a L, started selling soap fiends bubble bath

Broke his nails misusing his pinky to treat his nose
Shirt buttoned open, taco meat laying on his gold
I said "Daddy, one day I'mma get you right with 36 zips
1000 grams of cocaine, then your name will be rich

Now you can rock it up or sell it soft as leather interior
Drop some ice cubes in it, Deebo on perimeter"

He said "Son, how come you think you be my connect?"
I said "Pops, your ass is washed up, with all due respect"

He said "Well nikka, then show me how it all makes sense"
Go figure, mothafukka, every verse is a brick, your son dope, nikka

Now reap what you sowed, nikka (Please reap what you sowed, nikka)
I was born in '87, my grand daddy a legend
Now the same shyt that y'all was smoking is my profession, let's get it

Ignorance is Bliss

[Verse 1]
Kill him where he stand and stand over him
Shake his hand then jump back in that mini van
Double back to his block and blam I ain't backing down for nothing

I'mma back 'em down like Shaq with this black 2-2-3 in my hand
Better pray that this chopper jam like a radio single, man
Police radio signals saying that a 187 land
On your corner,
coroners comfort your momma
"Momma he's dead" the next morning, I toasted up with my homies
We drink and smoke marijuana,
want us to change our ways? Uh-huh
You see this game we play come from uncles that raised me in Compton
Ask me what I have accomplished, I don't know I don't have conscience
I just load up and start dumping on enemies; I'm head hunting

No sympathy, ain't no love when you in these streets just get something
Protect ya neck cause they coming for sets, respect, split your onion
Then chop your deck your head tumbling like gymnastics
(Cause ignorance is bliss)

HiiiPower
[Verse 1]
Visions of Martin Luther staring at me
Malcolm X put a hex on my future, someone catch me
I'm falling victim to a revolutionary song,
the Serengeti's clone
Back to put you backstabbers back on your spinal bone
You slipped your disc when I slid you my disc
You wanted to diss but jumped on my dikk

Grown men never should bite their tongue
Unless you eating p*ssy that smell like it's a stale plum
I got my finger on the mothafukkin' pistol
Aiming it at a pig, Charlotte's web is going to miss you

My issue isn't televised, and you ain't gotta tell the wise
How to stay on beat, because our life's an instrumental
This is physical and mental, I won't sugar coat it
You'd die from diabetes if these other nikkas wrote it

And everything on TV just a figment of imagination
I don't want plastic nation, dread that like a Haitian

While you mothafukkas waiting, I be off the slave ship
Building pyramids, writing my own hieroglyphs

The City
[Verse 4]
Kendrick, and I wear pendant on my shoulder, soldier
Like a lieutenant,
and the coupe tinted got pulled over
Johnny always lock a nikka down

Knowing damn well we don't wanna see the box like Manny Pacquiao
Little nikka Mayweather size, ride like Pac
In his prime, thug life is now on radar
Til the federal come through and raid ours
Reminiscing when the LA Raiders
Was in my home, snapback fitted on my uncle's dome

And I don't condone dikkriding, I'm addicted to
Westsiding,
living in a city where the skinny nikkas die
And the semi bullets fly, but it turn me to a lion
Trying, and I mean that shyt
Game came through, put the city on his back
I was in the city with a nikka, had seen that shyt

"Compton!", a nikka gotta scream that shyt
Never went commercial, never T.V. screened that shyt
Can't block or screen that shyt, now everybody sing that shyt
