Now that JOKER has reached $1 billion, how does Disney look spending $300mil per film?

Serious question. Is there any other villain that you could make a movie about that would even come close to this much money? Or is this a 1 off because the Joker is uniquely situated in pop culture and the Joker as an icon is so ambiguous you can take risks and not piss off a sizeable portion of the fan base the way Snyder did.

Doom if they build him up correctly.

Lets just be happy Dc created a model they can follow for their movies going forward.

Do they really though? As much as WB is going to want to try and cook up a winning formula up outta this, I don't think it's there.

Initially it was no franchises, just a one off...now people scrambling to figure out how this can work with the Batman/DCEU reboot or carry the story line further, which sounds like a huge mistake. Then you got people suggesting what character they should 'black label' next, let's get a dark rated R take on Riddler, Lex Luthor with Walter White, Ice Man, Penguin ect.

:russ:

I think it's more likely that this is a novelty than a model for repeated success.

nah, blade did it first, was replicated with logan and deadpool

im just saying THERE iz a market for adult themed r rated comic films, donta all need to be kids movies

Disney has repeatedly said they're gonna keep Deadpool with an R rating which will set precedent for how they handle Marvel content with more adult themes. They got Hulu, Fox and other distributors that have released rated R movies under their umbrella over the years.

This is their chance to do one off self contained stories like All Star Superman, Superman Red Son. IMO

nah thats false those avengers movies anywhere from 300-500 million budget plus marketing, they need to be blockbusters to turn a profit

joker doing that with very little budget and being creative

a lot of villains, esbecially in batman universe, id like to see a darkseid movie tho

What’s false? I specifically said gross. All those movies grossed a billion +. You’re getting into profitability. And those movies all turned a size able profit and that’s not even considering merchandising.

and again it’s great the Joker did this. But I Don’t know if this kind of movie is repeatable withal a lesser known villain.

You forget that Disney is making a killing on merchandise from those PG-13 movies.

No one is walking around with Joker branded depression notebooks.

The only thing OP is right about is Joker's budget was $55M which means the profit margin is going to be insane and it will likely turn a bigger profit than some other blockbuster movies that have reached a billion.

But I haven't looked into exactly what the profit margin on Joker will be compared to those films so it's a moot point.. Disney isn't doing rated R and they don't have to do rated R so don't expect changes from them.

Anyone thinking that Disney is going to do Blade rated R again.. I really don't see it, sadly. But we'll see.
