The greatest thing about art is that it's about taste and personal preference unlike sports, broads or shyt that you can't measure or prove (unless your name is Rhyme king).

Because he had more classic songs/verses/ than rappers with ten albums.

Plus if you only have two albums worth of BIG your collection is lacking. He has multiple albums worth of material as guest spots/unreleased/pre ready to die/Junior Mafia related era.

This

Since when does two albums automatically disqualify anyone. We can't ignore the fact that RTD is one of the illest, most timeless comprehensive albums of all time.

What do you mean "should"? If people personally feel his music then he should. I don't so he shouldn't be in mine

ALLLLL this right here...

It's become a trend to go off the "b-b-but he only had two albums" thing and act like that's enough to discount the quality of those four years he was out. I can't listen to all his work (which includes the two albums, guest appearances/unreleased tracks/etc.) and look at "oh, but he only put out two albums" as a legit reason to not put him up there as one of the best ever. The verses and the songs speak for themselves.

Besides, even some of the other greats are mostly great based on their best work- not because they were around for years and years constantly dropping classic shyt. Nobody bigs up Kane and calls him a legend because of them half-ass albums he dropped in the 90s- it's all about '87-'90. Slick Rick is a legend because of "La Di Da Di", "The Show" and his first album...the other stuff was just cool songs here and there. shyt, people SWEAR Lauryn Hill is the greatest female MC of all time bar none- and she has less than 10 full rap songs to her name. There's a lot of rappers that probably SHOULDA stopped after their second album. But when listening to BIG from "Party & Bullshyt" to "Victory", it's hard not to put him up there. BIG was on a whole 'nother level.

Can't quantify art.

Like in the Graffiti world, Mr. Brainwash is bullshyt cookie cutter BS but if you look at sales and money and sheer number of works produced he's probably close to the greatest artist ever. But really Banksy shyts all over him. And Picasso who isn't in that world but they arguably occupy the same "drawn art" space shyt over all of them.

So it's all subjective. You can't even argue who is better because it's all in the beholder. All I gotta say is make sure you know your Biggie inside out before making this comparison. I grew up in his era so I knew his music from its inception and I grew WITH his music. Consuming his music in hindsight you miss so much context of the world he was in and the full impact of his music.

Like you wouldn't know how big his music was. How he crossed over without hurting his street persona. And besides that, if you don't really pay attention to his hooks and flow, you won't really understand how freakishly good his rap was. Everything he put out was butter.

It's art. I can't explain it. He's still light years ahead of dudes. LIGHT YEARS. Just analyze the shyt so you're talking from a position of knowledge.

Another thing that he does great that no one has able to replicate for me is that I'm never the type of guy that just memorizes other people's rap line for line. I play the music and if I happen to remember your lines, it must mean they were either really good or really catchy.

I know so many Biggie songs front to back including Notorious Thugs and I never TRIED! His entire rap package was so on point that everything hit. No other rapper has ever surpassed Biggie on this litmus test for me. Not even close.

Name yourself a few Rick Ross lines that isn't "BAWSE!". I know more Biggie lines in just one of his songs than I know in Ricky's entire discography. And I'm a Rick Ross FAN!
