No troll... Why do you think Jay has had so much more business success than Nas?

As an introvert i would say Jay-Z is DEFINITELY also an introvert. Or at least very shy. So i dont think its that.

They're both talented as hell but they're different as artists & their goals. Nas has started to make smart business decisions but im sure
he battled a long time with the whole "am i selling out?" while Jay-Z probably was like Nas in his younger days, meaning being about your art & expressing yourself through music, but flipped after a while.
I'm surprised people don't think Jay is an extrovert. He's not shy, he's just guarded with his fame. . .and very careful. There's a difference. Jay likes to party though and be out.

Jay was more interested in building a brand, Nas just wanted to drop music

But we're seeing now what Nas can do if he takes a real interest: He's a venture capital investor and movie/tv producer and owns a chain of restaurants and sneaker boutiques.

Nas has never gave a fukk, or at least big enough of a fukk as Jay, about "business success" or commercial success, this is something people gotta understand about Nas' relative reticence when it comes to making big waves. He's always primarily been about the music and didn't care about all the extra shyt.

its more pressure for someone ugly to be successful. :ld:

Like seriously, why cant an artist be an artist? This dumb ass "business" talk is stupid on all levels.

Does anybody ever ask Lionel Richie or Bruce Springsteen Hey, I know you are rich and all, but why you not a businessman?

dumb ass thread

man stfu...

The point is why does this dumb shyt apply to rappers?

and certain ones at that. Never seen a thread on 98% of the rappers and business. It always seems to boil down to Jay, 50, Diddy and Nas. Sometimes Ross and Dr Dre.

Why no thread on Andre 3K and his lack of business sense? Or Eminem??

Why do people even care about shyt like this? :dahell:

4 paragraphs about another man's business acumen :picard:
My bad, breh.

What is proper open forum etiquette these days?

No disrespect but shouldn't the only litmus test be, discuss the shyt you like to discuss? Or nah?

---------------

Good thread topic.

It's been hit numerous times in this thread. Their "success" can't be looked at in a vacuum. It's about what they both wanted. At first glance, it may seem like Jay is more successful but it all depends on what their goals were in the first place, really.

It's always seemed like Nas was more about having a goal to be in a place where he's enjoying himself and promoting the things he wants on his terms. He's also been about minimizing the compromising of his art.

He's pretty much accomplished that. Where else could he really go?

Jay looks like he may have had a goal to be the richest person from his hood and a boss of the biggest of empires. He's well on his way but has he actually accomplished everything he's wanted?

Nas may actually be closer to his own personal goals than Jay.
