Well they weren't going to give it up if obama didn't do shyt or do I have to remind you that american citizens didn't want to do shyt. Congress didn't want to do shyt about syria either. It was because of obama's determination to actually follow through even if that meant impeachment from republicans that brought about this concession from syria and russia. Obama won this shyt hands down. I don't see how you can spin this as a russian win.

certain people on here are delusional in their dislike of obama. obviously, this is a huge win for obama. his pursuit of congressional authority was a gambit that put all of those opposing him on the defense, which is why syria now finds itself making this concession.

:snoop: @ some of the smart-dumb negros in higher learning.

Are you two really putting W's in the obama column over this situation? God damn, the level of egotistical posturing is beyond sickening.

This isn't a win. This wasn't the Administrations plan. What is this revisionist history you guys have during an event thats not even in the past.

For starters, Obama pivoted on the issue of bringing the vote to the American people. Nobody, NOBODY in the world believed the evidence beside folks that were ready to send other people to war without themselves being personally involved. Britain's parliament voting "No" set the stage for Obama to back down:

- The no vote from britain took place on aug 29th. <--- So in actuality its Cameron who is the real originator of the democratic process. But I don't hear y'all calling his approach a success......
- On aug 31st Obama delivered his speech about bringing the vote to the American people.
- France all along said it would wait and follow in America's footstep
- The chem use happened on Aug 21st, we were told there would be a military strike as soon as 3 days later
- Days after the attack, Russia sent 2 warships to the region to prevent a pre-emptive strike

Stop trying to paint this as some masterful chess move. There was never an attempt to prevent bloodshed. There still is no attempt to stop the war itself. Now citizens will just be killed by little old bullets and bombs.

On top of that, Obama has taken a HUGE political hit. Both democrats and republicans are giving him the side eye. US intelligence still hasn't answered the question of whether or not they new about the attacks beforehand and if they could've prevented them. They also haven't answered if the rebels at any time have used chemical weapons of their own.

The option of using military threats to bring about peace was always an option. When the red line was drawn by obama, it was an option then. But there was no plan to use that as an option. Because there hasn't been a real plan toward promoting a cease-fire in the region. Stop acting like this civil war just started this summer. Everyone knew Obama backed himself in a corner with the red line comment. Hence why one of the arguments from proponents over the last few weeks was "The US & especially Obama would look weak if they didn't take action."

Britain bailed the american public out big time.

The red-line comment is happen stance, there is a strong possibility that the US would of made the same decisions irregardless of whether obama said his red line remark or not. I did not say it was an attempt to prevent bloodshed. However what we do know is that chemical weapons are weapons of mass destructions. Governments use them because they kill a mass of people much easier than conventional ammunition.

To your point on cameron, even if he initiated it there was obama didn't have to do the same thing. If it was hillary, mc cain or romney in his place they would of probably already ordered an attack. I am not trying to paint anything as a masterful chess move. However, it could of been very easy for obama to just say if congress says no then no strike. However he still even left the option of striking without congressional approval. That would be against congress and against the will of the american people. He knows the political hit he is taking and would be taking. However we are here in this moment because of obama's willingness to actually go through with his threat. The russians or syrians don't offer to give up the chemical weapons if they don't perceive the threat to be real. I still don't even know if they will ultimately give it up, however make no mistake if obama does nothing all you have is the syrian regime unabatted and an international community willing to do nothing while he continues to use chemical weapons on his citizens. Without chemical weapons the rebels have a fighters chance with the international community supplying them weapons to continue to even the battle field.

David Cameron shouldn't be getting any credit for what happened in the UK parliament, he had assumed he'd have won or he wouldn't have took the vote. The Government are still calling for 'military action' over Syria, it was actually the Labour party and Ed Milliband (tbf, also some rebelling Tories) who blocked the vote.

David Cameron accused Ed Miliband of siding with Russia and letting down the United States over Syria in an acrimonious phone call made between the leaders a day before the Commons votes against intervention in Syria, according to Labour sources.

Details of the remarkably frank conversation emerged after Downing Street aides attempted to blame Miliband for killing off the government's plans to take military action against Bashar al-Assad's regime in conjunction with the US.

When Miliband made it clear in the call he would not support the government motion without more conditions, an exasperated Cameron accused him of "letting down America" and "siding with [Sergei] Lavrov", the Russian foreign minister, and an ally of Assad.
.
One Labour aide said that was the point in which negotiations between Cameron and Miliband first started to break down on Wednesday.

Cameron was hoping to reach cross-party consensus on a roadmap towards military action.

The Labour source said Miliband had also been disappointed by the language of a government source, who told the Times: "No 10 and the Foreign Office think Miliband is a fukking c*nt and a copper-bottomed shyt."

^^ you're not dealing with someone informed here. gadafi didnt have chemical weapons. but its good to know where the general's public mind is.

He did have chemical weapons but the U.S. asked him to give them up to lift the sanctions and less than a few years....bomb him and his country. Unfortunately Libya and Syria has slowed the Elite down by 2 years so they will be quick with Syria.

and now we need to recognize a great syrian-american, steve jobs....

Jobs's birth parents met at the University of Wisconsin, where Jobs's Syrian-born biological father, Abdulfattah "John" Jandali (Arabic: عبدالفتاح جندلي‎),[36][37][38][39][40] was a student, and later taught, and where his biological mother, Swiss-American Catholic Joanne Carole Schieble, was also a student. They were the same age because Jandali had received his PhD at an early age.[36][41][42] Jandali, who was teaching in Wisconsin when Jobs was born, said he had no choice but to put the baby up for adoption because his girlfriend's family objected to their relationship.[43]
