I grew up on X-Men comics, cartoons, cards and games. Never really fukked with anything else comics wise.

And I LOVE the first two Spider-man films. Love love love love love. Say what you want about Tobey and how they chose to portray Peter....but the movies are classics imo.

With that said, what Marvel has accomplished with the MCU is nothing short of a miracle. Not every entry in the series is perfect, but I don't really dislike any of their releases since Iron Man.

they have a deal in play. If those movie studios do not make a movie with there characters in a certain amount of time( I think it varies with each of them) then the rights go back to marvel.

That's how it works in general. However, it never actually works out.

I'll give you an example. You ever seen the horror movie "Hellraiser"? In the early 80's Clive Barker sold the cinematic rights to his novella "The Hellbound Heart". The first adaptation was the first "Hellraiser" movie.

Since then there have been eight movies that Clive Barker had nothing to do with. He's wanted the rights back, but they keep making movies solely to keep the rights from him. In 2011 they filmed a new movie in weeks and released it to one theater just to say they were still using the rights.

So, long story short, Marvel will probably never get those rights back unless they pay for them.

Always hated the X-Men and Fantastic 4. I'm older than some of yall, so I grew up more on Spidey and Hulk. They had a cool set of video games in the 90s, but I thought there was too much simpin on that show and thought the DC dudes would whoop their asses. Its like the X-Men has always tried to be a soap. I like the Avengers for some reason though Much more all-out superheroes. Not to mention I definitely like the more cosmic side of Marvel so GotG I should love. Wish they did a standalone Silver Surfer too. That stuff is far more fascinating than the X-Men stuff.

Words cannot describe how garbage every avengers animated series is...as weak as the later Xmen are they are still better than the avengers stuff. And spiderman has had multiple animated shows better than all of the avengers, compiled and seperate.

Its a borderline fact that The four core avengers are not strong enough together to move units so they (in print) add spiderman and the X-men around them to sell copies. And Spiderman is a proven box office draw that is a lock for 700MM each release and probably going to hit 900MM for the next one.

Now your just letting your bias show. Avengers EMH was better received than the 90's X-Men show

Folks praise that 90's show cuz they were younger when it came out, go watch it now it doesn't hold up.

The 90's Spider-Man show was amazing though.

Your second point isn't even true. The Avengers franchise was doing just great before Wolverine and Spider-Man joined the team, it was just a lazy writer doing lazy shyt, like I said before Wolverine and Spider-Man barely show up in the main Avengers book anymore and its still selling great.

It's funny that this thread exists. Just got through reading an interview with a Bryan Singer who said the X-Men are Marvel's red-headed step children.

“Everyone grew up knowing Captain America or the Hulk, but not X-Men characters—I didn’t even know who Wolverine was,” Singer says. “I call X-Men the b*stard stepchild of the comic universes.”

Japan, but from the 989
:whoo: Well this is a shocking thread..
But real talk.

10 years ago nobody gave a flying fukk about the Avengers. Now, they are household names. Spiderman is still pretty popular along with the X-men but the height of the popularity hit when the the cartoons came on Fox. :salute:

But since Fox and Sony have the rights to Spiderman and the X-men, I just don't have confidence that those studios can make them anymore popular. Marvel Studios knows what they are doing with their characters and to have the most successful film universe of all time is saying a lot. They have made more money than Harry Potter.

Let Marvel Studios drop an Infinity War movie......:mindblown:

Nah its more like he's the hottest MC in the game and they beg him to feature on all of their albums cause they ain't movin units. :manny: He ain't signed to nobody, he's just going on tour and they bring him on stage and he gets the check :takedat:

so you saying these heroes get that spidey stimulus check huh, ghost writer for ghost writers for the right price make your one-shot tighter?

spiderman looking like wayne in 08 hoppin on everybodies shyt

Not putting down Spidey. As I said, I grew up on Spidey and Hulk. Something resonates more with the Avengers than the X-Men though and that seems to be a current mainstream thing. Perhaps it Hulk and Thor being an older cat. Just can't get into them for whatever reason. I go to every one of their movies, good or bad, but just still something missing personally, whereas I never knew much about the Avengers as a group, but they just seemed to work. Just don't like some heroes. Never liked Batman or Green Lantern.
