One album I did totally overlook back in the day and considered a huge disappointment was Serv On's Da Next Level (his debut was obviously alot better). In hindsight it had some really cool hard and deep cuts on it. Whole album sounds better to me now than Made Man, Bossalinie or Foolish OST which also came out in early 99

Dolliole's hook:wow: Holloway blastin' off at 2:07mins:ohlawd:

Never could understand why he changed his flow...but No Limit was on its way down by now...in early 99 it was dud after dud

This was a disappointment to me. I thought this album was going to be fire. It started off strong and fell off. "Murder" was cool too.
I agree with yall. I basically meant it is the least worst one for me from the terrible early half 99 releases. Murder, I Hate The Way I Live, This Is 4 My Nikkas, I'll Be There, Tank Nikka, NY To NO were all cool, nothing great

fukking loved it. First half is dope as fukk! Heaven Is So Close and It's Real (with Brotha Lynch Hung) are two of my absolute favorite NL songs ever back-to-back! Serv was hungry, guest spots (Mystikal, Mac, Mia) were mostly dope, really underrated album

after watching that new orleans rap history on netflix (dope series btw) I feel like mannie fresh had greater range as a producer since he came out as a bounce dj/producer (back that azz is a bounce record) which intune felt more connected to New Orleans.

That being said, No Limit definitely had that N.O. sound too, P had bounce that azz and make em say uh, had those new orleans horns.

What I will say BBTP had more of a effect on SOUTHERN production than fresh imo. I can listen to any no limit album made from 96-99 and it sounds like it was made today.

Hard to tell, Mannie and BBTP both had a great influence especially because of their HUGE body of work. What they pumped out within a decade (like mid-90s to mid-00s), incredible. Of course there will be some clunkers in there because of that quantity, but they put out some timeless music man

I gotta go with Fresh on this one, only because of the fact that BBTP used samples in their music. Not all the time, but some of NL hits were influenced by older records, not all.

Fresh was as original as they come.
