Yeah the worst stuff NL ever put out came in the first 4 months with Made Man (oof), Next Level (repetitive, rushed), Boot Camp (what can you expect from em), Foolish OST (couple of nice cuts), then Lil Italy's trash later on. Bossalinie was a disappointment (not that bad tho), Who U Wit (some hard beats), Gangsta Harmony (solid, felt rushed) & Thuggin' (ups n downs) were mediocre imo. But Snoop, Fiend, Mac, TRU albums were great (now imagine Tank Doggs album instead of TRU). Mercedes was surprisingly solid
Yeah Tank Doggs was gonna be an automatic cop for me. But somehow I knew we'd never see that album. Even though I didn't really like Made Man or Bossalini I got some great memories from winter 99 to those two albums

Da Crime Family was weird. It was anticipated and was like the Tank's final stake at remaining a force. It debuted a lot of the new talent from the artists to producers. We literally saw the members of BBTP kind of leave with this album. I don't think Craig B even had one beat on this album.

But yeah, that CMR wave was too strong for this album to make up any ground CMR had gained at that point. Overall, Da Crime Family was lost in the shuffle in '99. It was a solid offering. Not as good as TRU 2 Da Game, but by far the best the Millers had to offer that year. I will say, they showed a more mature side with Da Crime Family and had more depth on this album.
Agreed. Still listen to that album at times, kinda had a distinctive sound (just like Street Life and WW3), mature and clean, kinda the opposite of the dirty gritty sound of Tru 2 Da Game

I think Craig B had his last NL beats on Street Life. Probably my favorite BBTP producer

Overworked MP should have given those fire Da Crime Family beats (cut it down to 1 disc, have each member get one solo cut just like Guerilla Warfare) to Tank Doggs and let em loose

Waiting On God - Fiend solo
Best Friends/Beefing - Mac solo
It's All On A Ho - Snoop solo
Been A Long Time - C solo

Who remembers when this was the title of the TRU album before they went with Da Crime Family:

I think they just didn't have a title yet. DCF at least kept it consistent with the mafioso theme from Da Last Don, Made Man and Bossalinie. After the CMR shots (ain't wearing no suits cause we ain't tryin 2 be presidents) NL stopped wearing that shyt

I know 99 was when No Limit was on the out, but how big was Hoody Hoo, TRU Homies and Da Crime Family back then and compared to whatever CMR was dropping @OHSNAP! @JustCKing @You know damn well @NO-BadAzz @Homeboy Runny-Ray @No Hook

hoody hoo was a big record.

as for where they stood against cash money, from an east coast perspective, they were neck-n-neck when that TRU tape dropped.
cash money was just starting to pop off on the east coast at that time. guerrilla warfare was the first cash money album for alot of people up top. definitely the first one by them that got bumped upon release.

and while no limit was on the downside, they still had non-stop hits and that TRU tape was a banger. cash money gained more momentum thru the summer, and came out on top, and never looked back. that triad combo of singles - back that thang up/we on fire/bling bling. then when they killed it at the source awards, it was a wrap.

I could be wrong, but I think that was more of a nickname Silkk had within the camp and maybe it was something Mac more so called him.
it was his name in the 504 Boyz

"silkk:thats nino brown...
mystikal: im g-money.
silkk: and im vito boy!
--it aint my fault 99

"you the one they call Vito?/...yeah thats me" --hot boys and girls

I know that was his name in the original set up of 504 Boyz, but beyond that song and even on the 504 Boyz that came out, he wasn't referenced as such. He has tweets with Mac where he calls himself Vito and now the IG post. I don't think it is 504 Boyz related, but I could be wrong.

Breh,

I haven't seen that album cover in, I know 20 years, Was there one with just Master P and Mystikal..

I still feel some kind of way that they didn't come out with that album, (re-arranged it)
