Ya know I never realized how intricate this beat was, the organs in the beginning caught me off guard when I replayed this today.

To me, around this time, P and the production team were going for 'cross-over' sounds to me vs 97,

Soft tone patterns vs how their radio singles were pre-98.

It may be a reach but I think their singles (production) prior 98 were more harder/edger

Silk's "That's Cool" even though a nice single, would have never gotten him the attention pre-98 run

It sounded like they were replaying the theme song from Halloween from scratch. At the time, BBTP was going more toward live instruments. It would've been cool to see how they would've developed that sound for other No Limit artists. It worked well for Fiend.

I know 99 was when No Limit was on the out, but how big was Hoody Hoo, TRU Homies and Da Crime Family back then and compared to whatever CMR was dropping @OHSNAP! @JustCKing @You know damn well @NO-BadAzz @Homeboy Runny-Ray @No Hook

In real time, that was a summer single that was played heavy down here, (in real time)

The single from TRU did place shine back on NL, I think P actually took time and gave a dayum and put out a hit record with Hoody Hoo and he actually promoted the TRU album, took shots at CMR on that album.

99, CMR was in between albums, meaning, Juvie 400 degrees was still being played and BG Chopper City in the Ghetto was out, I think the Bling Bling had just dropped as a video.

This was a window where P may have taken advantage of where CMR didn't have anything other than "playa why you hating" really out out. Bling Bling was heavy in rotation though.

But folks were gearing up for the "Guerilla Warfare" release from the Hot Boys

To me, it was like P and NL was still 10 steps behind CMR when Hoody Hoo dropped, they cut the lead down to single digits or maybe 10 if we talking basketball terms when Hoody Hoo dropped.

Edit - Juvenile - Back that Ass Up was killing Summer 99,
Hell no, Hoody Hoo was good, but that Back that Ass Up video killed the 99 summer
