If you can’t attract talent then you need to do what everyone else has to, increase the pay and benefits until you attract more/better candidates.


But first someone needs to take a look at what the military ACTUALLY needs. We don’t need to be staffing to continue to be the world police.

This whole country would burn down. Let's face it, social media and the internet killed the appeal with armed forces since Vietnam.

That is why the armed forces are PISSED that a lot of states are offering free tuition to all HS grads with over a 3.0 and getting college degrees debt free, cause that cuts down at least 80% of their potential recruits.

I can agree and will toss classim being in high school. Smart kids went to college, ok kids got a job, and the whatever kids went to the military. Young people just have more options now than in the past.

Yep. The 'whatever' kids having so many opportunities to make decent money these days, that the military is behind them. The War on Iraq and Afghanistan basically sealed whatever chance the armed forced appeal on the youth.

I went to a navy recruiter in Long Beach in 2012 was on my ass after college and thought fukk it as this bytch I was fukking suggested it cause her grandpa chilling and she said it’s a good career..

Took the asvab, got a good score, recruiter was happy as hell thought he had one..took that on the spot piss test at the next meeting and FAILED..he was sick because at that time it was automatic disqualification for weed but he kept telling me to come back in 6 months and he can get me in if I piss clean…I chose weed never went back lol

Best decision because I knew myself and knew I would have gotten kicked out for failing a random piss test…

They change stance on weed they would have no issues filling seats

as a sailor, would you rather have a junior sailor who graduated from HS/Has a GED but has a 10 on the ASVAB...or one who didn't graduate from HS and has a 50 ASVAB score?
