No man, no
Only someone who doesnt own one would say this. The Vita has features that the Switch STILL doesnt have. It’s def technically a better handheld than the Switch Lite. Now would I tell someone to buy it over the Switch Lite? If they want new games that aint indies? Nope. But if they dont mind old games, Vita games, PSP games, PS1 games. And if they plan on modding it. Than yea. Vita would still be the handheld to get over the Switch Lite. Easily.

I've had both, every "feature" on the Vita was half-baked and was only added for adding sake. A remnant of Sony electronics from years past. The allure of an all in one convergence device was already dated in 2011. It had many features, but by 2011/2012 gamers weren't going to turn on their Vita just to use those features.

Everything about it was cumbersome. Its UI, It's "features", it's memory solution, the rear touchpad that maybe 3 games really took advantage of, the proprietary charging dock of the first model, I could go on...

It's only saving grace was its ability to play PS/PSP games, and the handful of unique titles that were good, but most of them got ported to the PS4.

Vita still an overall better handheld than the switch lite honestly.

I own both and tech-wise, the Vita had huge potential but it wasn't utilized properly at all, which was a shame. The tech is probably better overall but Sony really didn't have a clue what they were doing. they just threw shyt together and tried to figure out how it could all work together later on.

Switch is better tho IMO. Took the potential of the Vita and actually did something with it. If Sony hadn't relied solely on 3rd party support for games and provided better support for the remote play function, I'd probably still use my Vita today. It's a great indie and throwback machine, but the Switch at 2 years into its lifespan has had a more focused approach and actual first party support. I can't honestly say the Vita is a better handheld overall when the people who made it didn't even support it properly. Great tech means jack shyt if you don't support it.

Yea ur basically saying the same thing I said. If u dont care about new games and u love indies. Vita is a better designed handheld. And im not comparing the Vita to the full Switch. Im talking about the Switch Lite. I wouldnt call that a Vita replacement just get being that it’s a more gimped handheld and has less features than the Vita. It’s just as much of a Vita replacement as the 3DS XL was. Had better first party support. But also had less features. The Vita is officially discontinued anyway at this point.

No. It UI wasnt cumbersome at all. And yes. The rear touchpad wasnt used for every game. I will give u that. But it’s still does SIMPLE things better than the Switch at this point. Like ability to connect bluetooth headphones. Which the Switch STILL cant do. And it’s online service and community was MILES better so lets not even go there. The only thing that was fukked up about the Vita hardware wise was the proprietary memory cards. shyt was actually one of the things that killed the system. But the shyt u saying right now is making shyt sound far worse than it actually was. If u did have the Vita. U obviously didnt utilize it much or didnt keep it for long. If that shyt had proper first party support this wouldnt even be a discussion. And im not saying it’s better than the Switch. But it’s a better HANDHELD design. Especially if u mod it. Switch has the potential to be a better handheld if Nintendo stops bullshyttin and nickel and diming.

It's online community was shyt, how many games truly took advantage of it?

I bought the Vita on the promise playing dope games, I left unsatisfied. I can safely say a lot of others felt the same, hence its quick demise.

Quick demise? Fam the shyt came out in like 2011-2012 and it just got discontinued this year. Thats about 7 years of people fukking with it. It failed because of the memory cards and lack of first party support PERIOD. But that doesnt mean it didnt have alot of quality games on it. Especially when u factor in the legacy games u can play.

U could still buy a Vita in stores 4 years ago fam. Also. The best Vita imo was the OLED one which is why I kept that. They been pulled those out of stores. And the VITA was HUGE overseas.
