The Lite pretty much confirms the Switch was always a handheld not a hybrid. The plugging up to a TV was always a secondary feature that has been abandoned for convenience. If the ability to plug up to a TV was really that important to Nintendo the Lite wouldn't exist without it.
I own both and tech-wise, the Vita had huge potential but it wasn't utilized properly at all, which was a shame. The tech is probably better overall but Sony really didn't have a clue what they were doing. they just threw shyt together and tried to figure out how it could all work together later on.

Switch is better tho IMO. Took the potential of the Vita and actually did something with it. If Sony hadn't relied solely on 3rd party support for games and provided better support for the remote play function, I'd probably still use my Vita today. It's a great indie and throwback machine, but the Switch at 2 years into its lifespan has had a more focused approach and actual first party support. I can't honestly say the Vita is a better handheld overall when the people who made it didn't even support it properly. Great tech means jack shyt if you don't support it.
Sony tried to support the Vita but the market didn't want a handheld device with primarily home console style Sony games. Huge AAA games like Uncharted are better played at home on your big screen TV.

Yea ur basically saying the same thing I said. If u dont care about new games and u love indies. Vita is a better designed handheld. And im not comparing the Vita to the full Switch. Im talking about the Switch Lite. I wouldnt call that a Vita replacement just get being that it’s a more gimped handheld and has less features than the Vita. It’s just as much of a Vita replacement as the 3DS XL was. Had better first party support. But also had less features. The Vita is officially discontinued anyway at this point.

But IMO it can't be better overall than the Switch or the Lite even because its already delivering experiences better than the Vita ever did.

I’m confused. The Switch runs in two modes, handheld and docked mode. The Switch Lite will only be able to run in handheld mode, that’s the trade off for being smaller, cheaper and more portable.

You can’t abandon a feature that’s apart of the premium model, the Switch Lite is a budget option, not an upgrade.

The lowest common dominator will be the standard going forward. New games will be sure to support the Lite so the features it cast aside will become unimportant.

think you're over exaggerating

that's like saying when the 2DS was released in 2013, that's what all devs would have went for...but devs still continued to make use of the 3D, and only within the last couple years is when they stopped

Breh, what features are they gonna cast aside?
Docking your switch gives it a boost in power, no developer is gonna turn down the chance to use that power. HD Rumble is already a choice for devs and most of them choose to implement it into their games.
You can’t remove the controllers of the Lite, but Nintendo has already confirmed that you can use the joy-con with the Lite for multiplayer.

If people want to play on a hybrid machine they’ll buy the Nintendo Switch and if they want a handheld they’ll buy the Switch Lite.

meh when they make a model that can give u 8 to 12 hours minimum then ill make the switch and on top of that more powerful too

I’d just wait for the successor to the Switch if that’s the case.

But then there’s the possibility that their next system will be entirely different.
