If Russ was currently commanding a max for his output, would this thread still be made?
They like to conveniently ignore that part of it!!
Russell westbrook's issues on the Lakers would have been fine if he wasn't being paid a max contract. The contract handicapped the Lakers big time and I remember a glaring issue they had was a lack of shooters but between Bron, AD, and Russ there was not enough money leftover to go and get shooters in the offseason nor any real value left on the team to trade for some so their offense had terrible spacing which made it significantly harder for Bron, AD, and Russ to get their shots in the paint and make plays. shyt was honestly a fire-able offense for any other GM even the most casual fans coukd see that team was gonna be bad without shooters but Rob Pelinka still getting off scott free smh

Let Jokic miss like 25 games like Bron did his full season w/ Russ and Denver is missing the playoffs also

You can't sign Draymond to a team then blame his lack of shooting or get Kevin Love and blame his lack of shot blocking for your failures. If everybody knew Russ was a turnover prone PG that couldn't shoot then how can they also blame him for the Lakers failures when he played like he always hs? 18 6 and 7 while often being put out of position with LePG (who refuses to play PF more than he plays PG) in between being yanked in and out the starting lineup is his fault? And if its a "fireable offense" to get him, do you mean firing LeGM and Day-to-Dayvis who were the ones that pushed the Lakers to get Russ at the expense of their depth? Then turned around and said nothing as they watched Russ become the scapegoat for being the player he always been?

He's a scapegoat because anytime "someone" loses his supporting cast is blamed and the narrative becomes how the team has to get better ones. Terrible that he had to go to his hometown team and be booed because the "leaders" wouldn't stand up for him. When in all reality, had the Lakers had Lebron play the Karl Malone pick and roll role more than he played the faux-Magic "I need my stats" role the team would have played even better (then and now). But as Wade/Bosh/KLove said, you have to adjust to Lebron, he doesn't adjust to you. And all those players had blame thrown their way when they lost

Every player who plays with a superstar has to sacrifice their game.

You fukkin think Scottie Pippen couldn't have had a larger role?

I could post examples for days.

Stars sacrifice their OUTPUT but they don't have to sacrifice their STRENGTHS. Pippen still got to play to his strengths playing alongside MJ while Bosh had to sacrifice his game into being a catch and shoot 3pt shooter

Keep in mind this version of Westbrook is a worse version than when he was on the Lakers

Diff is Joker actually makes players better and really tries to amplify their strengths

Is he? Or is he playing in a situation where’s no expectations?

Yup lebron was out for several games and also we saw russell play on the clippers and he was a liability on that team as well. No need trying to rewrite the facts here

“Yup LeBron “ :mjlol:

When you play on a team everyone sacrifices a strength. That's how teams work.

If you put 5 elite 3 point shooters on the floor, you can't have all 5 of them shooting 3s all the time.

Right?
Right.
