It's both their fault.
Nico for putting the team in the position where Kyrie needs to be the #1 guy (essentially replacing Luka's role), and Kidd for playing him all those damn minutes because that's what he deemed was necessary for the Mavs to be competitive.
Nico knew full cotdamn well that trading Luka would mean Kyrie would need to step up into that type of role given how the team utilized Luka.

And what does that have to do with Nico being the one who initially drove a wedge between the organization and Luka (firing all the staff members that Luka liked because he thought they were enabling him) and then being the one put the trade into action and ran to Rob in the middle of the night?
The whole organization is to blame, but Nico is the one behind it all.

I’m 50/50 on it. The way he/ the Mavs have talked about Luka on the way out has been mad disrespectful and just really confusing from an already bad PR campaign.
