Folks will watch it. It will get a 100 million viewers. Yes its way bigger than the NBA. But this season overall has sucked, nobody i know is having a Superbowl party and ppl seem more hyped up about the Kendrick performance than the actual game. No the NFL is not dying its KING, but I will admit i probably watched fewer games this season due to the quality of play

I think both the NFL and college football fell victim to the seasons lasting too long. The extra games (17th game, all the midweek games in the NFL, all the CFB playoff games) burn people out by the end, especially if the end matchups aren’t what some people want.

Once we knew it was Eagles Chiefs, what more is there to say about the game? The teams played before and are well known. There is no news to discuss. Just play the game and get it over with

None of this matters before the ratings come out, but this is basically the gamble Silver’s been exploring ever since he moved the deadline to SB week. The biggest blip on the NFL’s radar I can remember was the Simmons-Harden trade. We’ve just had hella weak Trade Deadlines since then, up until now.

It’s silly as fukk because him and the NBAPA fukked themselves out of this occurring more often with that accursed CBA. It’s so much more finaggling and pick moving now, it seems like it’s harder to do the megadeal.

You gotta choose between watching the most unlikeable team in the league threepeat or watching the worst fanbase in the league celebrate:unimpressed:

And you already know the refs gonna be working overtime to give the Chiefs the game in the second half.

Least interesting matchup in a long time.

The AFC CG (really, the Chiefs vs Bills/Ravens) has been the real SB in terms of casual desire for a while. If you could move Mahomes to the NFC on some WWE shyt, the numbers of him vs Lamar or Allen would be generational.

A big part of the appeal of football is scarcity. Instead of just continuing to ride the record numbers that were going up every year, they are legit just pushing and pushing to see how far they can go before people say "enough". If they keep it up, they too can go the way of baseball and boxing. They are huge and will be for the foreseeable future but nobody is too big to fall off eventually.
