This parental rights debate is probably an L for Newsom.

EDIT: I take it back. Meatball Sauce is laying it taking on thick. That "sex change across state lines" bit had to be a lie.

This is just a good learning debate for Newsom to prepare for 2028, learning to fix his on-air mistakes.

Even if DeSantis got some shots in, the cameras are focused on Him and Newsom, allowing people to see his odd body language; for any normal Republican, on home turf, this would be a easy narrative to spin.

Instead DeSantis is showing why after the first few minutes you want to turn off the volume or channel on Ron.

Newsom needs to stop with the smirk and head shakes. Makes him smug if not arrogant.

i mean, what the hell is the pro-democrat answer to that question? :dead: i couldn't answer it either

"We've been a victim of our own success. For the last two decades, California has been the national leader in producing high-paying jobs, and we constantly have people moving here to build and join amazing companies like Apple, Google, Facebook [keep going as long as he wants]. Even last year, 500,000 new residents from across the country chose to move to our great state. Unfortunately, there is only so much land and so many homes within driving distance to those jobs, and with great demand comes rising prices. The pandemic and stay-at-home work has allowed people greater flexibility in where to live while they take advantage of the global economic boom that California's companies created, and so naturally there's been a bit of evening out in that regard as tech workers and others feel more free to move to states who didn't experience that same sort of economic boom."

"But I won't deny, there are people who do reject California values and don't want to be a part of what we build here. There are people who don't want their state to provide health care for the poor. There are people who don't want their neighbors of a different color to have the same opportunity at political representation that they do. There are people who don't want every child to be treated equally in school - some of them seem to not want subjects like history and science to be taught at all. Some of those people will prefer states like yours, Mr. Desantis, but I am confident that does not represent the majority of Americans."
