what you shocked about? you read the health care bill right? part time was cut from 35 hours to 29 hours for most part time workers to pay for health care....

and yep..current pay i get is $8.40 an hour....also under a union so a small portion usually under $10 comes out every week in addition to Social security tax, and medicaid tax....

but hey who cares i'm balling :dj2: :dj2: :dj2:

and you got Obama's restrictionist ass out here acting like $10.10 minimum wage is gonna be something spectacular....even if part time was back at 35 hours that is still average...

pisses you off even more when these older folks act like we got it so easy and think everything is handed to us....putting up with this bullshyt ..

This minimum wage game is BS. By the time the new wage goes into effect, inflation will have already crept into everything thus making the wage raise meaningless.

People have to get used to the fact that a employer is not your friend. They're looking to make the most money possible while paying out the least. It's basic business.

Part of the problem is people expecting a job. When you're expecting or "waiting" for a job you have already lost negotiating power. employers pay top dollar for services they can't easily duplicate. The more rare and in demand your skills are the more you will be paid.

If you have no current in demand skills I would suggest you start working on some. I know some people don't like working in sales. However, if you still haven't figured out your skills working in sales allows you to potentially make more money than your co-workers. Pushing paperwork or working in a job where you can't clearly separate yourself from your peers puts you in a losing situation. Usually there will be some workers that slack yet still will make the same money as you. Again the goal is to put yourself in a situation where you can stand on your own.

The best skill you probably can ever learn is communication. Network your ass off and you will be surprised how fast you can move forward. Again for many this will be outside of your comfort zone, but that's how anything of value usually works.
