Got anything to back this claim up?

Because I'm pretty sure prices will rise anyway

Yeah but not that dramatically. This is capitalism breh and businesses only care about profit. They will lay people off and force more work upon fewer employees or pass the cost down to consumers. One of the two.

They do that anyway.

The problem is paying one lone employee many millions of dollars

Exactly but what do you think would happen if minumum wage was raised that high? The executives would take pay cuts? :heh: Helll No, they'll find a way to keep the company top heavy.

The elitism in this thread is crazy. A lot of us actually think we are special or better than cashiers\fast food workers when actually, we're not..

Most of the population is average at best, and in order for the economy to function properly, you need to have people working as cashiers\janitors etc.

But on the flipside, these jobs need to provide a livable wage so that those people have some type of quality of life, which is just simply the socially responsible thing to do....

The business owner has to find money somewhere to pay those workers right?

Answer...raise prices...:jawalrus:

Minimum wage in NY should ideally be 10 an hr, but I guess 9 is fair. Anything over 10 is unwarranted though, IMO.

There shouldn't even be a minimum wage to begin with. Employers should be able to pay whatever they want. If prospective employees can't agree with their wages then they should seek another job with more favorable wages. There shouldn't be any government involvement in this.

Does that mean prices will decrease for goods and services?

:what: @ this whole thread.

The cost of living will rise with the wage increase, and the number of people employed will go down...

minimum wage increases are always a bad thing. :snoop:

Do people really think every job is worth $10/hr? :aicmon:

I swear niqqas dont understand cost. :sadcam:

Lost on everyone seems to be the fact that when the minimum wage is not a living wage, the government is basically subsidizing businesses' profits.

If minimum wage was increased, we could substantially decrease the "entitlement programs" you free-market promoters hate so much.

I personally feel minimum wage should be based on cost of living. 9$ a hour in Manhattan will have you homeless man, or living with 20 fukking people :snoop:
