Exactly. And the sad truth is that our country would prefer to keep it like that. Those at the top get their pockets lined by us struggling to survive. Folks think that getting a degree will solve all of their financial problems and that's a damn lie. One shouldn't come out of school more educated then they entered with and more in debt then they started with only to make a little piece of shyt money that they can't even live off on.
And if you do make good money your usually working 50-60 hrs a week which should be against the damn law.
All this shyt makes me mad
I would like to know why can't minimum wage be $12-15 an hr in ALL states. It's nothing to make moves off of but it can better the quality of life for many people who are so used to making less.
The 1%: How dare you want to have an apartment, pay all your bills on time and not eat spam You should've went to college and got a STEM degree if you wanted those privileges
C/SThe elitism in this thread is crazy. A lot of us actually think we are special or better than cashiers\fast food workers when actually, we're not..
Most of the population is average at best, and in order for the economy to function properly, you need to have people working as cashiers\janitors etc.
But on the flipside, these jobs need to provide a livable wage so that those people have some type of quality of life, which is just simply the socially responsible thing to do....
Is it really a cap though? Or more of an incentive to raise the floor to increase your own pay.why should there be a ceiling on pay? You think that will get you paid more?
and I like you guys upping year old threads...i can see what I said back then

If your lowest earning employee makes $20/hr that's 41.6k a year if CEO salary was capped at 50x that the CEO would be making 1k an hour at 2,080,000 million a year.
Now a CEO with a Salary of 45m makes roughly 21k an hour given a $10 minimum wage that CEO makes about 2000x the amount of the lowest paid worker....no real point just thought i'd point out some numbers.
Oh and if there was a cap of 50x and the CEO was making 45m then the lowest paid worker would be making 430/hr.
If a CEO making 45m a year were to cap at 50x and make only 2,080,000 a year teh difference from 45m to 2m is roughly 43 million. That..."savings" would allow 1031 employees to make $20 a year...and thats with just ONE person taking a salary cut.
Let me ask this question though, as we've seen CEO pay isn't really tied to performance, would a CEO work any less if he wasn't making 45 million a year? Say he/she was only making 3 million a year? Would
being paid with stock options gives incentive to do massive short term growth strategies which usually means dumping on workers? What exactly is the correlation between CEO pay, and worker pay?
So its how they are paid, not how much?being paid with stock options gives incentive to do massive short term growth strategies which usually means dumping on workers?
um...because it shows that the executives are enriching themselves at the expense of labor? So its how they are paid, not how much?
If so, why the focus on how much they are paid?
