Considering the rumors of a PS5 Pro might be better passing this up if you already own a PS5. Allegedly the Pro would launch next year in November.

Why would a physical disk drive need to connect to the internet to be activated on the new playstation... it's a physical attachment...
shyt is sus like Kinect DRM type sus...

Simple reason it has to be connected to a server to pair with a motherboard. Most blu ray players have to go online before you can play a disk or have a firmware update before you can play a disk.
