But this makes way more sense than thor, cap, spiderman.

Ironman could litterally be anyone, and has been multiple people in the past.
This is not the same as changing wolverine or spiderman to different people.

Ironman is not a mutant (well, pre-extremis). Ironman is the suit and the intellect.

I figured it's a concern of who to sell to I just figured it's been done before in earlier decades (Black Panther, Blade, Static, John Stewart as a Green Lantern, Spawn) so it could be done again.

Eh I would say this is somewhere in-between.

They aren't removing Tony Stark from the universe. She is her own character. This isn't a retelling of Ironman's origin story with a black teenager instead of Tony Stark.

Would it make you feel better if Tony didn't giver her an Ironman suit, but instead gave her a suit of a different name?

I know they aren't removing Stark from the universe but is he retiring? They did say "replace". And I thought she made her own similiar suit. Maybe they're using this to catapult her into her own suit/name.

Marvel has been doing more of this lately with the diversity thing. I rather they create new heroes/identities and give them their own fanbase and legacy than try to change their flagship heroes. I wonder if it's (lack of) creativity or financial concerns.

Bendis becoming this "diversity" writer in charge of writing the perspectives of these non-black characters rubs me the wrong way. Especially because I find his writing tacky and not interesting at all.
