Camp update:

QB rotation has been pretty "fair" so far, with Stroud clearly being the top guy---as we sit today....

Lathan Ransom getting a lot of praise for his ability as a slot corner---just brings so much versatility to the position---can do it all...

Lejond Cavazos has been getting a lot of run as well---matching him up against Wilson and Olave is toughening his up for sure--and he is hanging in there and competing...

Joe Royer doesn't get mentioned a bunch, but I like what he brings at tight end and so does the OSU staff...

Bryson Shaw is another guy that isn't a household name---but he might be by year's end---some close to the program even think he might be a starter---he's that good...

Donovan Jackson has lived up to all the hype--already in the two deep---five star talent with five star drive and ability---going to be a special player here....

I like what Jordan Hancock and Jakailin Johnson bring to the defensive backfield---running with the threes for now, but have shown SO much natural ability to cover, I wouldn't be surprised to see that change in the near future...

Big story of the day to me is the way the OSU defense is using Craig Young--they want to play that UFO defense with their "best 11"---and he is certainly one of those guys. Runs SO well that they are lining him up all over the field. Even having him back as a safety as he is THAT athletic. Love the linebackers and what they all bring, but Young is a "hybrid" in the truest sense of the word---he will make plays all over the field this season....watch....

Practice 3 while I bump this classic Nasir :wow:

"Not a knock down to the ground practice today---but physical nonetheless....getting more and more of an idea every day...

1) Evan Pryor doesn't get talked about a lot---but he is REALLY good. NOT Trey "other worldly good" Henderson---but a really solid compliment. Slasher type that can catch the ball as well. Can help us for sure.

2) Enokk Vimahi is going to be a special player here. Is in tremendous shape and just pushing guys around out there. Lots to like

3) Michael Hall is a force on the interior of the defensive line. Haven't mentioned him much in the early reports, but he is starting to show out. Impressive young man

4) Walk on tight end Mitch Rossi just keeps making plays. Can catch--can block--can do a little bit of everything. Crazy to think he might get playing time---but he might.

5) Matt Jones has had a couple of nice days back to back and is right there in the left guard battle. This one is going to be back and forth with Fryar to the very end.

6) Marcus Williamson has looked good at the nickel. I know people want to write him off already--but he has been more than solid the first three practices.

7) NPF is playing like a first team All American at tackle. Always been able to "dance" with guys---but has more punch this year and is finishing plays. Visibly better if that's possible.

8) Demario McCall is running with the one's at corner. Cam Brown and Sevyn Banks are clearly the guys--but McCall is taking snaps and covering guys. This would be one of the more amazing position changes of all time--but right now? Its happening

9) JT Tuimoloau is so athletic. Surprisingly however he doesn't have a ton of great pass rush moves. But what he does have? Is a devastating BULL RUSH. Been tossing some upperclassmen around out there--and making it look easy.

10) Jerron Cage continues to impress. Just does his job and never seems to lose a battle. Gets at least a stalemate--and then every few plays will flash and just beat his guy bad. Love this guy. Took him a while to find the field, but seems like he wants to make the most of it.

11) Your starting safeties will be Josh Proctor and Craig Young. LEGION OF BOOM. Two big, imposing guys back there that just love to deliver the big shots. Totally changes the look of the OSU defense with those guys back there.

12) Finally, OSU's offensive version of the UFO/Best 11 is featuring an offensive line that goes Dawand---Thayer---Harry----Paris----NPF. An All American tackle at guard? crazy as it sounds, don't be surprised when you see that.....

My Top 5 most commonly heard names:

1. TREY HENDERSON- kid is the deal. Might be the best tailback in America right now. Has a suddenness in the hole where he can string cuts together and leave guys grasping at air. Has a gear none of the other tailbacks have, which means home run hitter. Also, runs very very violent. Will truck kids who try to but up with him. Special special player. Will be no lower than #2 on the “real” depth chart, not the fake one the team puts out. If there wasn’t any type of seniority or politics, he is easily starting versus Minnesota…

2. NIK PETIT-FRERE- has been the best player in camp regardless of position. So much so, he is playing LEFT tackle now to protect the new QB’s blindside. Thayer has been the ultimate team player and worked at guard to give Dawand an audition at tackle to see the best five. Nik have very smooth feet and has been finishing guys in the running game on the zone stuff that puts a premium on the tackle’s stretch block…

3. CODY SIMON- my guy said he looks so much like AJ HAWK is is also funny. Same explosion, effort, demeanor. Gets to the ball and is an excellent player. Easily the best player on this defense. Tone setter. When you see him in games, you’ll think AJ Hawk. Just a fantastic player…

4. CADE STOVER- the surprise of training camp. Might end up starting or being the co-starter with RUCKERT. Plays with and blocks with a very nasty demeanor. Also has really good hands and has a good ability to get open on the short routes he runs. Isn’t the athlete Ruckert is, but is a better all around player because of his excellent blocking. Will maybe be the surprise of the fall. Future NFL player who will make a nice living as a blocking TE and special teamer…

5. GARRETT WILSON- the biggest competition for the best player in camp with NIK PETIT-FRERE is GARRETT WILSON. Has taken an even bigger leap from last years stellar season, and no is in his “contract year”. Routes are very tight, footwork has improved, and hit jets are as fast as ever. Has a very very strong chemistry with CJ Stroud (as does OLAVE). When the ball is in the air, it is HIS and nobody else’s…

Please don’t slow play Henderson
Have a feeling with his name being brought up all the time, he’ll be the main back by mid season. I know the Oregon game being game 2 is big and would be ideal to have a talent like that get the most snaps, but by mid season he’ll definitely be ready to take over.

September 2nd feels like forever now.
