- Going off info I've received, my feeling (and that of a few college coaches) is that the recruitment of super 5-star CB Domani Jackson might be heading down the same path as that of Jaheim Singletary. While he might not formally de-commit any time soon, schools are chasing him and he is encouraging the pursuit. This is not good news for USC, whose hold on Jackson might be slipping away. Ohio State is supposed to get an official this fall and if it happens, my guess would be for the Oregon game. Alabama could be the team to watch slipping into this from out of the clouds, and they are after Jackson hot and heavy.
- Speaking of Singletary, word is that a commitment to Miami could be coming in the near future. Right now, as with most kids that de-commit, I would say OSU is out of it. Do they continue to pursue? OR walk away, solidify who they have committed, and chase Jackson and Will Johnson? With Singletary as the classic Florida game-player, there could be LOTs and LOTS of drama left to play out and the goal would be to be his favorite in late December. Could OSU reel him back in late in the game? Let's see if they let him go or keep in the game.
- While there's no way in Heck that OSU wanted to lose Singletary, I'm hearing REALLY good things regarding both Ryan Turner and Jyaire Brown staying in the class. Singletary could be the best corner in America for 2022 but this is a great year for corners and Turner, Brown, and Terrance Brooks is a darn good haul. Add Jackson or Johnson, and this haul goes from darn good to exceptional. I'm also higher on Kye Stokes than most people and he's a 4-star in my book.
- With Turner possibly being solid to OSU (and optimism on the Florida side is way down compared to a month ago), what does this do for the chase of Kenyatta Jackson? My info has Turner and Jackson clearly wanting to play college football together, even though I'm rarely in on these "package deals". I have the needle pointing upward for OSU in terms of landing Kenyatta Jackson and I think I might have them the favorite right now over Oklahoma. With Omari Abor possibly drifting away from OSU toward Bama, the Bucks would love to land both Kenyatta Jackson and Enai White. Two out of Jackson, White, and Abor would be a home run.
- Even though I've had him IN the class after his official visit to Ohio State, I'm going to downgrade Chris McClellan to "Maybe", and I don't like what I'm hearing. Not calling him gone at all today, but the tea leaves aren't anywhere near as positive as they were in mid-July. I really thought he would be committed to Ohio State within a week of his official visit and obviously that has not happened. I have Oklahoma, Florida, and Ohio State in the mix right now, and we will see how this one progresses.
- I do think Tony Alford has all but locked up super 2023 RB Richard Young and this kid was one of the more impressive recruits I saw this summer at OSU. When a runningback impresses in a camp setting you know he's special because this position isn't made for camps, but Young blew me away with his size, speed, change of direction, and ability to catch the football. Going off the camp performance and the gamefilm, I would have Young ahead of any RB OSU has signed since Zeke.
- I know there is some talk that OSU might now go after a 2022 QB since Quinn Ewers reclassified to 2021 and is headed to Columbus now. Drew Allar is a name that logically comes up and the Penn State QB is ABSOLUTELY good enough to play for Ohio State. After doing some digging, I can say pretty confidently that Allar is 100% solid to Penn State and would not entertain overtures from Ohio State. Now talking to a media person can be one thing, while a phone call from Ryan Day could have the kid peeing his pants and falling on the ground, but I'm not seeing Allar as a QB OSU could flip should they decide to go after one for 2022.
